Erin and I just watched After The Thin Man last night.  I love Nick, Nora and Asta at this point, but fear that the addition of a baby into the series might seriously cut down on their casual boozing and late night crime solving.  We’re going to watch the next movie tonight, so I guess I’ll know soon enough.

I have the whole Thin Man series on DVD. I love them all, but things do get more ridiculous as the movies move forward. However, not so much because of the kid.

I’m telling you, I want to be part of cool married couple like Nick and Nora.  Even the later movies, which aren’t as awesome, are still charming because Powell and Loy have such great chemistry.

That said I do kind of like The Thin Man Goes Home because of all the jokes about Nick being sober.

Lake of Fire is in our queue, but I’m monitoring it closely - I don’t think it can just show up unannounced.

I just noticed that little passive aggressive dig at Deeps.  I’m telling.

Yeah, we watched most of Another Thin Man last night and I have to say that most of the characters that aren’t Nick or Nora annoy me.  I’m still loving this series though.

I’m about to watch The Usual Suspects.

EDIT: Heh heh, I guess not. I ended up watching The Sixth Sense. It was f**king great.

Oooh.  I tried watching The Battle of Algiers once, but I wasn’t in the mood.  Please tell me you’ve seen Suspiria before…

Come to think of it, seeing as how you weren’t crazy about Phantasm, I don’t know how you’ll feel about this one either.  It is a gorgeous film though.

How could you not like Phantasm?  Blasphemy.  Suspiria is Phantasm weird times ten [but in a good way].

I’m not one of those girls that does weird stuff in bed because they think they have to. If you’re a gay guy looking for a beard, I don’t do that anymore.

I thought Phantasm and Suspiria were about equal, entertainment-wise.

This is more fun, that’s why.

I guess we could trade names.  I can’t remember what mine is, but I’ll get back to you.

I thought this might be interesting.  Here’s what people rented last week (and how much the films made):

1. Alvin and the Chipmunks ($8.7 million)
2. Sweeney Todd ($8.1 million)
3. I Am Legend ($7.4 million)
4. The Mist ($6.6 million)
5. Enchanted ($6.3 million)
6. No Country For Old Men ($5.7 million)
7. Atonement ($4.9 million)
8. Bee Movie ($4.6 million)
9. Dan in Real Life ($4.3 million)
10. The Kite Runner ($4.1 million)

Amazingly, No Country has made the most in cumulative rental sales so far, with a total of $32.5 million.  Hooray!  That’s more than I Am Legend!  And Bee Movie!  AND ENCHANTED!
