I really dont know anything about this film, I love Noe, the guy is super talented if not super-deranged. Does anybody know anything about this film? Plot synopsis or anything? I’m curious as this one has snuck up on me….

“You Know you’ve made it, when your heads gotten a little bit bigger”

Anybody else wish there was a search function on this forum? I know I do..

But I digress, found this funny little video pretty much expressing my (and seemingly our) lament over modern movie poster designs

movie poster floating heads

And I found this site, in case anyone else is an extremely bored, art nerd like myself, you can browse through oodles and oodles of movie posters =P

And so the power of movie posters is made abundantly clear! Really, I just want something between the floating heads and these (movie posters from poland.. and the 80s… they are very very 80s) http://wellmedicated.com/inspiration/50-incredible-film-posters-from-poland/ Really is that too much to ask? Concept = Way more interesting to look at than Morgan Freeman’s magic face dots. Well you know what I mean.

I’ve added Legacy to my queue as well.. but WHAT DOES IT’S TAG LINE MEAN??? I can’t even begin to fathom it.. Big Zapper looks awesome.. I concur M that concept does = much more interesting than X-actors face(s) slapped on said poster..

I have said it before and I’ll say it again….concept doesnt sell films anymore because we are a more celebrity driven culture now….it is a shame that we know more about who gains what amount of weight/who loses same said amount and how their children are doing…..I say this in the most sincere way I can….I dont give a smurfin about Brangelina’s kids or how many houses they buy….lets get back to when a story was enough to keep us entertained or story concepts…..bring the art back to movie posters and cinema in general…..I’ll step down….from this slippery soapbox….

Putting movie stars on posters is fine, but I miss the hand drawn versions….it somehow meant more to me…am I weird?

You arent weird, but along with the celebrity driven culture, you have the big business that is Hollywood, where everything comes down to the bottom line. Better, faster, cheaper. As much as I love the design programs I use such as photoshop, I also really hate them for what they’ve created. No talent hacks that become designers/“artists” and know the least amount of desktop publishing to get by. Obviously its way quicker and cheaper to make a poster chockful of airbrushing and big headed collage-y goodness than to search out, hire an artist and “avoid” time consuming elements like if the rough drafts of said poster aren’t up to par. sigh. Ill stop for now.

That Clockwork Orange poster is still my all-time fav….the font used for the letters and everything….it tells you nothing about the film and then after you see the film, it tells you everything…..nice…...
