Inspired by the “Currently Viewing” threads. It was gonna happen eventually, considering how much I love books.

I’m just about done with Needful Things (the shit hit the fan a little bit ago), and I think I’m going to start The Farm tonight (my first Scott Nicholson book).

Just finished ‘Duma Key’(not great, but not as wretched as ‘Bag Of Bones’).  And just started ‘Dark Tower III: The Wasteland’ yesterday.

About halfway through Brian Keene’s Dark Hollow, at the moment.  Probably going to read The Ruins when I finish that one.

Is it good? I’m sort of wary when it comes to Keene…

DO NOT BE WARY OF KEENE. HE WRITES FUN QUICK NOVELS AND SHOULD BE READ. LET NOT AMY’S REVIEW OF HIM SWAY YOU FOR SHE FINDS SOLACE IN THE CRAP-TATERS KNOWN AS THE DRAGONLANCE SERIES.

Her taste is suspect. (:P

Read The Ghoul if nothing else.

I finished Tom Strong by Alan Moore. He is all that is quality.

I’m reading “Knockemstiff” by Donald Ray Pollock.  His voice is a lot like Palahniuk’s (who also wrote his praise on the back cover).

There are no monsters, ghosts, spells or anything like that; just a collection of short stories about Knockemstiff, a small, poor town in Ohio with a host of shaddy, violent and drug-loving citizens.  The book is really dark and very funny.

Has anyone from Ohio read it?  What did you think?

Yeah, I remember Des highly recommending it. I own that, Dark Hollow, The Rising, and The Conqueror Worms (which I read, and basically enjoyed).

Bite me :)

If I must defend myself AGAIN, let me say that I was 15-16 years old when I was reading/enjoying Dragonlance and that was on Freddy’s recommendation. Hormones make you do crazy things. I haven’t even rented the movie. Can you say that, DZ?

I’m reading Wicked. Anyone read this/seen the play?

I saw the musical in Chicago with Mrs. Cat last year.  I did not expect to enjoy it, but I LOVED it!  Funny as hell.  Mrs. Cat has read the book and says it is radically different from the musical - very little in common with mood or plot.

Actually, I felt the same way about Jumper.  The movie and book had completely different plots.  After I got over the confusion, I enjoyed them both.

It’s not bad, but it has some pacing issues.  The Rising, City of the Dead and Conqueror Worms hooked me with the first chapter, but this one seems to just be taking too long for me to get to the fun stuff.  I still stand behind my claim that Keene has a bright future ahead of him, but I also acknowledge he still shows some weaknesses, here and there.

Oh and I still say save Ghoul for last and when you do read it, skip the epilogue, as it completely soiled that book for me.

Gah… that just makes me want to read it more… I’ll take your word for it though.

Also, Amazon just shipped The Rats and The Fog. Yay!

wizard’s first rule by terry goodkind.
both are excellent, i always have loved the destroyer series and i am reading wizard’s firs rule because i was curious since raimi is making a tv show of it.

Okay, here’s a question: At what point in a book do you decide to either keep reading or move on to something else? I’m around fifty pages into The Farm, and… well, it just hasn’t hooked me. I can’t decide whether I should put it down or keep reading…

depends on whether i have something else I want to read.  I read three other books while trying to get through American Psycho.  I got about halfway through Virtual Light before I dumped it for Ghoul and never did go back to it.  I didn’t even make 2 chapters into Terminal, though.  haha.
