Right now I’m reading The Best Horror of the Year, Volume One, edited by Ellen Datlow. First story’s decent, I suppose. The second’s pretty bad. Not compelling at all. The third’s very entertaining so far.

If the OFF SEASON book you are reading is from Leisure books it is the more recent printing and is uncut. I can’t remember who published the censored version.
It’s the 1981 Ballantine edition. I believe this is a first-run printing.
Yup that is the censored first printing. Just curious where did you find your copy?

Freddy picked it up at Half Price books. I think it was only like 2 or 3 dollars, maybe not even that much.
Nice find,I have looked around for a copy of the first printing but have never seen one for a price I am willing to pay. I do recomend that once you finish it track down a copy of the uncensored version and read it also.
What do you guys think is more satisfying; reading an anthology a few stories at a time in between novels, or finishing the whole thing in one go? Because I’m really tempted to put this one down and re-read The Shining.

It’s according,if all stories are by the same author I would read them all at once, but if it is different authors I would read a few then read a novel.

Reading a Lovecraft collection entitled The Thing on the Doorstep and Other Weird Stories (the “weird” story I’m currently reading is The Dunwich Horror).
Oh, and Educational Psychology, chapters 1, 2, 3 and 5.
Well, I just picked up “Dracula: The Un-Dead”, the Dracula sequel that just came out written by Stoker’s great grand-nephew (a tenuous connection at best), Dacre and Ian Holt. One of the reviews I read said it was almost laughably bad, but I’ve read a couple good reviews, so I’m hoping it’s OK at least.
Ugh, I’m the worst at deciding which book to read next. Recommendations?
Well a few that I’ve read in the last year that I really liked are Gary Braunbeck’s “Mr. Hands”, Kealan Patrick Burke’s “Number 121 to Pennsylvania”, Neil Gaiman’s “The Graveyard Book” and A. Lee Martinez’s “Gil’s All Fright Diner” (that’s a funny one with a horror setting).
Right now I’m reading The Bell Jar, by Sylvia Plath. I needed a little break from the horror genre (and fantasy in general, to be honest), and this has really been hitting the spot.
I’m reading “The Terror” by Dan Simmons. It’s very good, and seems almost like a historical novel(because the characters in the book DID exist and did get trapped on their ships in the arctic).
No one knows if they really got attacked by some giant Yeti-like creature that liked to eat them though.
