It’s a business decision to put Leno on at 10pm…I wont support it because I like fictional TV shows and I am just about completely reality and talk show free finally….it has taken me years to escape their evil clutches btw…..I say almost free because I still love the History channel and National Geographic…those types of things….

Back to Leno, I will agree its a cop out….its like the net under the trapeze artists, its death defying right? Grow a pair NBC, take more risks…truth is talk shows cost a lot less to produce and rake in some serious advertising dollars….its greed, no one is astonished by that I’m sure….

I’m not saying I dont like talk shows, I just dont have time to add another talk show to my schedule of TV watching…I used to DVR them all, and then they would sit there…and sit….and sit….I stopped…I win….now I’m off to tape Oprah…

I know I already fired them, but I really think that whoever the stupid TV execs are who wait to the last minute to tell a show if its canceled or not need to get new pink slips to highlight their crimes.

I’ll be talking about a a couple of season enders, so…

****SPOILER ALERT (for breaking bad and a brief mention of HIMYM)****

Okay I really really love Breaking Bad, and they’ve been giving little foreshadowing snippets of toys and things being pulled out of a pool after an explosion.  Typically, this show will show you things like this, really awful things, and you’ll think “that can’t possibly happen” and then they do it.  You keep on thinking that there is some way for Walt to get out of it, and he doesn’t or he does in a way that makes things worse.

This season they totally let him off the hook.  Turns out the toys etc, that were pulled out of the pool were from an unrelated plane crash that was from a storyline that probably won’t continue.  It seemed like the producers didn’t know if the show was going to get renewed or not so they built in this foreshadowing so that either end show more completely if they had to.

The end result was a great season of Breaking Bad that ending in a disappointing kind of way.

I don’t blame the writers though.  I think there is a perfectly natural urge to end a show as a complete story, and building in things like this are a way for them to do it. I blame the execs for keeping these shows dancing around while they decide whether or not to cancel them.  This show won a freakin’ Emmy, do you think you could give it two more seasons?

I mean how many lame season ending shows of How I Met You Mother do we have to go through because they don’t know if they are getting renewed or not.  “Oh look I passed your mother on the street.” “Oh look your mother was in a class.” “Oh look she’s got an umbrella.”  Honestly, if I were those kids, I would have gone all Menendez on my father about mid-way through season two.

Pink slips go out to Jenna Elfman’s agent.  Accidentally on Purpose isn’t really a bad show and works kind of well as a silly sitcom, but she really does deserve better than this, and the male cast is really, really awful.

Also, would like fire every single executive at Sci-Fi or SyFy or whatever the heck it is now.  Were the fans really screaming out for a 3rd Stargate show?  Really?

Is it really that hard to make descent Sci-Fi programing?  You could rip off the thousands of British Sci-Fi shows that were made in the ‘60s and ‘70s (The Tomorrow People, Blake 7) and do better than you’re doing now.  You could make a low budget version of Journeyman, and it would be better than seeing people go through that stupid gate one more time.

And, BTW SyFy, how did you not get the rights to the Middleman?  To Kyle XY?  How do you not renew The Dresden Files for another season?

They should force these worthless execs back into their Mom’s basement.

Yeah, I feel like SyFy had a few properties (or the chance at a few) that they didn’t take. Clearly they are enamored of the BSG critic-friendly show but I’m not sure they have another one in them. I watched a few minutes of SGU the other day and noticed how much the scenes were framed liked BSG - including small camera flourishes.

I never watched the other versions and there doesn’t appear that there’s any reason for me to tune in for this one. On the bright side, I’m glad to see that hoodies have made it to the post-apocalyptic future.
