Summer is here, allegedly, so that means a lot television is winding down until the Fall (presuming we don’t have a SAG strike). So what will you be watching this summer? What should we be watching this summer?
I expect we’ll be watching Mad Men again this season. I want to understand what all the fuss is about. Then of course our beloved Burn Notice will return along with the less beloved The Closer. And I think some new stuff shows up like Fear Itself, which I believe Mick Garris is behind. So that will probably be terrible.
I should really cuddle up with Arrested Development Season 1 again and revisit Buffy. It’s been a while….
I tried watching Buffy again but turned it off. I didn’t realize what a whiney little bitch Buffy is right from the beginning. I didn’t think the show held up very well.
Firefly is something that might be good to revisit - we have the DVD collection as well. I was perusing the shelf just this morning and noticed we have a lot of Deadwood too. That show is ripe for analysis.
I didn’t start hating Buffy herself until much later in the seasons. Like many leading characters, she just wasn’t allowed to grow and change as much because the show would be over. It happens a lot on TV….
E Online has a pretty decent list of summer premiere dates - although Philly is missing from that list. Looks like the FX people are being cagey about some of their release dates. Weird.
Psyche is mid July and Eureka is late July. I think we’ll probably cover both - although pretty light on Psyche since Deeps hates it with a white hot passion and really, there isn’t a lot to say about it from week to week.
Just a heads up, Venture Brothers new season starts on Sunday and so does a new series that sounds somewhat intriguing called In Plain Sight on USA. I’m hearing it favorably compared to Karen Cisco which was good but short-lived.
We’ll talk about both on our June 15 episode since we’re taking the week of June 8 off…

We were stuck inside thanks to spectacular thunderstorms yesterday and watched a couple old VB episodes on demand. I said I could watch more episodes but we didn’t have any and Deeps suggested that we buy the DVDs for our wedding anniversary today.
A lot of women wouldn’t be excited about that. But I’m a little different…
Me too. I’ve never seen the other seasons, but I’m intrigued so far. I hope it’ll fill The Amazing Race-shaped hole in my heart.
And…

Dear God The Mole sucked. I felt myself getting stupider while I was watching it. One of the worst reality shows I’ve seen in awhile. I can see why they canceled it years ago. Damn you writers strike.
Anyone catch Swingtown on Thursday? Not bad, kinda makes me feel dirty…in a good way. Should be a fun, light show for the summer. And as a proud owner of freckles, I’ve always loved the 70s for embracing them and Swingtown doesn’t disappoint in that department.
Swingtown was ok. It just made me wonder what it would have been like on Showtime or HBO. In Plain Sight has potential but it wasn’t great. They were trying really hard to make it cool but it came off as forced.
Just watched “Once More With Feeling” from Buffy season six. I actually liked it. The songs aren’t my favorite, but I like where the episode puts all of the characters by the end. Joss’ experimental episodes are always pretty fun to me.
