As a horror buff first and foremost I have to say Jerry Goldsmith’s score for The Omen was not only form-fitting but scary as hell.

There are many classics themes and many great scores and it is hard for me to narrow them down as a music score fan.  I really want to say John Carpenter’s Halloween, but Goldsmith hit the nail on the head with THE OMEN OST.

REQUIEM FOR A DREAM by Clint Mansell, BUBBA HO-TEP and SIX STRING SAMURAI by Brian Tyler and 28 DAYS LATER by John Murphy are also some powerful scores.

I would like to hear other people’s favourites or ideas!!!

Suspiria(or anything by Goblin really, but Suspiria was the perfect melding of score and film in my eyes)... Halloween(or any of Carpenter’s early stuff, f*cking impeccable)... I love the soundtrack for Return of the living dead as it fits the mood of the movie so well.. all of Park Chan-Wook’s movies have excellent symphonic scores… A’ L’Interieurs and Haute Tension are both excellent and both composed by François Eudes.  Morricone’s stuff is clearly at the top of any and all lists… Guido/Maurizio De Angelis/Oliver Onions have a spot in my heart

on a totally different plane the score for Silent Hill was top notch also. No idea who did it but still I liked it.

you know, the first film that came to mind for me was Hermann’s score for Taxi Driver; it is perfect. I didn’t mention it as I decided to mention more “genre” stuff,  but yeah the Taxi Driver score is most def. A-1

I not sure if I have 1 favorite. But I know it would have to be Ennio Morricone!

Once Upon A Time In the West
Once Upon A Time in America
The Great Silence
The Mission
Burn

All these are so beautiful that they make me feel like crying.

While I’m a huge HUGE Goblin fan, I’m going to have to go with Donald Rubenstein’s score for George Romero’s Martin. It’s a haunting mix of 70’s free-form jazz and classical gothic. So Good.

Being a funky mofo, i love blaxploitation soundtracks like Superfly, Black Caesar and Shaft. Also Lalo Schifrin’s Enter the Dragon, Bullitt and Dirty Harry (the title theme is awesome!) John Carpenter, Bernard Herrmann etc.
I especially love David Holmes’s Out Of Sight, David Shire’s The Taking of Pelham 1,2,3 and Alan Silvestri’s Predator score.
