We have been watching Weeds, the past couple of weeks and I am now firmly in the half hour camp.  The sheer volume of things they cram into one half hour episode of Weeds (all without it being rushed or confusing, no less) is absolutely staggering.  It’s like watching a 1 hour drama with all the boring parts edited out.  Is half hour TV the sweet spot?  Imagine if Buffy had been a half hour show?

Haven’t seen Eater yet.  Just wanted to share my thoughts on the half hour thing.

Weeds is a great show and a great example of economical storytelling. There’s no fat on that show at all.

I gotta keep harping on Eater. I’ve noticed on NBC, you know they are cutting to the last commercial break of the episode of whatever show when they flash their little “Learn more about Heroes/Fear Itself/The Office/Whatever at NBC.com”. When I saw that last night I couldn’t believe we were in the home stretch and still nothing much had gone down in that police station. In fact, looking back I gotta say the best part of the episode was the awesome Hellboy II trailer they showed during commercials. That made me happy.

Yeah, Jonathan Shaech co-wrote it. Hopefully, this will be the last movie he co-writes.  This episode really sucked and lacked any creativity or originality.  It’s the worst of the season so far.

I thought Eater was so-so, certainly not worse than the Landis/Salva episode. But yes, everything mentioned so far were things that made me go, “Why doesn’t she…”

I wasn’t bored. I thought it was moody.

Honestly, it all just pissed me off because I have the PERFECT script for Stuart Gordon to direct on that show, and it’s so up his alley.  Dammnit, Stuart, call me!

I’d shit my pants if you ever made an episode. Just picture it…

Hey Blayne, welcome to the boards! I agree w/ you that it was a little slow and we’ll get more in detail tomorrow but, it was really good I thought. For network tv!
