It’s Alive…..Is this a classic?  I just rewatched this great piece of 70’s shlock and laughed my ass off.  Just to remind anyone who doesn’t remember this flick, the original tag line was…

There is only one thing wrong with the Davis baby…...IT’S ALIVE!!!

That’s right, killer babies.  What can be better than that.

It’s sequel, It Lives Again, is not nearly as shlocky and actually comes close to being thought provoking.

The remake looks less cheesy, but just as terrible.

I love the first It’s Alive movie.  The acting in it was surprisingly good. The baby itself however, was pure cheese and I love my cheese.

Wait…What???  There was a remake?  Silly question to ask these days, but I hadn’t heard of it.  Off to imdb I go.

I have never seen it, however the trailer of the movie used to scare the crap out of me when I was little.  I remember watching the Munsters with my older brothers, it went to a commercial and it was the It’s Alive trailer.  They ran out of the room and left me in there alone and I was freaking out. I was only about 3 years old but I remember it like it was yesterday.

There’s actually a shot in It’s Alive where the fake baby is wriggling in someone’s arms because it’s being played by a CAT.  Watch for the paws.

I kind of liked It’s Alive II because it had higher production value and Michael Moriarty.  However, the babies weren’t as scary because we’d already seen them in the first movie.  They still tried to hide them from the camera for some reason.

My favorite is the third one, Island of the Alive.  It involves a court case to protect the giant overgrown baby things, who now live on a jungle island. Moriarty is terrific.

I had the remake’s 4 minute showreel bookmarked, but it looks like Youtube took it down.
