Well, it’s not really a scandal, but I like to titillate….
Check this story out from Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood Daily. Interesting little throwdown beginning between horror/Clive Barker fans and Lionsgate. Should we start sending meat or toy trains to Joe Drake?
I hate to say it, but I doubt Midnight Meat Train will find much of an audience beyond hardcore horror fans. I just hope I’m near one of the 100 theaters they decide to show it in, because I think it looks awesome.
Isn’t Nikki Finke the one who proclaimed the end of the world as we know it when Black Xmas was released on (gasp!) Christmas Day last year?
know what really sucks? there is no way to “protest” this without screwing the people that this movie too. Honestly, though, Id rather them shove it out to DVD then delay it to hell.

Agreed. Whats the point of a theatrical release if it only gets released in 8 theatres for one weekend? Just put out a nice DVD and let us all see it.
So this movie did get a limited release, and Cincy was fortunate enough to be a part of that. The best part was that it was shown locally only at the Dollar Saver theater, so I only paid $3.75. That’s right, kiddies, I’m a total cheapskate.
The movie was fun and disgusting…but more on that during Episode #107.

You are actually cheaper than you thought girl. It was only $3.00! And it wasn’t even showing at the good cheap theater either. We saw it at the cheap theater that time forgot. Awful theater but good movie.
It opened in my area this weekend but in the smallest, crappiest theater in the area AND in another county, no less. So I did not make it out to see it. I patiently await the DVD.
Remember my last letter when I suggested that you may suck? Well, I have come to my senses and have reevaluated the situation. I know that you have many responsibilities like making sure Disaster Movie, and more schlock from Tyler Perry and Nicolas Cage get a wide release. But, sober second thought has made me realize that yes, yes you do truly suck.
“I also heard that they’re changing the title to ‘Midnight Train’, taking the meat out. Yeah, you heard me, I said taking the meat out ;0)”
Yes because God forbid a movie title be something that catches the eye and instead is just another bland indistinguishable title that could be about anything. Another home run for Lionsgate….and yes that is sarcasm :)
Meat? Midnight Meat Train. I’m so sick and tired with everything being so politically correct. This country is going to become so PC and sterile that any type of imagination or creativity will be discouraged. It’s crap.
Holy crap, I just found out this is actually playing the dollar theater here in town.. I know what I’m doing Saturday night!
As for Lionsgate, I can understand the whole managerial politics and crap, but it still seems stupid to not take an existing property and utilize it to it’s full moneymaking potential, regardless of any of the other associated reasons. To me, if the new bosses are shown to be that petty as to make a bad business decision based on personal issues, if I were on the Board of Directors (or shareholders or whatever) I’d be seriously contemplating the new administration’s ability to lead as a business and concerned that the wrong decision had been made.
But I guess rather than good business, when you make it to the top, “It’s good to be the King!”
