We review Hammer Horror classic The Brides of Dracula. Slander Bill Cosby and review why we loved Pitts. w/ Nate from HH mag. Also, I’m burnt to a crisp and Freddy/Chiz had their fill of Originsy goodness. Andy and Amy had soft serve so god have mercy on your souls.
I loved Signal!! Not sure it counts as straight-to-video, because I know it had a limited release, even here in NC. I hope everyone else gets a chance to see it, but I’m glad Amy liked it. That’s definitely one of my favorite new horror films of the past couple years.
OK, that’s as far as I’ve gotten in the podcast so far. Sorry ‘bout the sunburn, Erica - my shoulders and neck got burnt pretty bad this weekend too (yes, I realize that makes me a redneck).
Personally thought the Signal was pretty schizo. Starts strong, has a strong middle that doesn’t actually fit in the movie, and then the end drags. (I mean, I guess it’s to be expected with three different writer/directors)
And it felt a little like theft(re: Cell)
If I had heard nothing and saw it I probably would have liked it more, but it didn’t live up to the hype for me.
I just finished the rest of the episode (thanks for making today’s errands a little more entertaining), and as I’m not too knowledgeable about Hammer films, it was interesting to hear your different takes on it. Are you going to be doing more, so we can play along at home? The only Amicus movie I remember seeing is Dr. Terror’s House of Horrors, which is an entertaining anthology about guys dying in various terrible ways. And it even had Peter Cushing in it.
Tim in Korea’s voice mail was probably one of the best ever. “Free beer, blow jobs and Night of the Living Podcast.” That needs to be on a T-shirt, right?
Great show as usual guys. I’m a bit of a Hammer buff myself and I humbly suggest NOT watching Curse of the Werewolf as that is one of the most boring films ever. Seriously. No werewolf action until about the last 10 minutes, if memory serves. If Brides of Dracula didn’t peel your banana, then you might try Dracula AD, The Devil Rides Out or The Witches (which is a reeeally odd one but I enjoyed it).
Erica, that sun can be one sum bitch, even on overcast days. Aloe works wonders.
God, just listening to me drunk dial makes me want to throw up…..AGAIN.
Gin and tonic just goes down too damn well, and when someone throws in free tequila shots, well….
I’m glad you guys are digging in the Hammer stuff. It might all seem hammy as shit now, but if you
take it into the context of the time..
Besides, the Hammer stuff resides in my comfort zone of Sunday afternoon double creature features, and the Saturday Night Monster Horror Chiller show. Miss those moments….

It’s slightly more awesome than my new “I’ll Shit In Your Mouth” T-shirt. By the way, haven’t really found a good place to wear that yet. I was all bravado when I bought it…now, not so much.
You reviewed the wrong Hammer film, no wonder you weren’t impresssed! I recommend Dracula, Frankenstein Must be Destroyed, Plague of the Zombies, Blood from the Mummy’s Tomb, The Devil Rides Out and, for the guys, Twins of Evil.

Well Amy, there’s a number of fine establishments that would greatly appreciate your provocative apparel:
1. Church bingo socials
2.Retirement homes
3.Playgrounds
4.Wallmart
5.Any Republican gathering.
Remember, if you don’t wear it publicly, then some folks might feel left out….
‘Why doesn’t she want to shit in MY mouth? What’s wrong with ME?’
