This movie ended up being way more awesome than it had any right to be. I highly recommend it.

Oh man, I have great memories of this movie. It doesn’t necessarily hold up over repeat viewings, but I loved it when I first saw it, and I still like to revisit it every now and again. I may have actually seen this in the theater, that’s how frickin’ old I am. It’s just a crazy fun good time.

I saw it when it first came out on VHS and remember liking it.  I have to watch it again though because I don’t remember a whole lot of details about it.

Saw it in theaters.  Loved it.  Bought it on VHS later.  Still loved it.  Bought the day it finally hit DVD.  Still love it.  It is actually my favorite Wes Craven movie.  Yea, it tops Nightmare for me, I think.  I own an awesome movie theater poster for it that I have framed and everything.

Absolutely one of my favorite horror movies of all time.  It needs to be included in next year’s urban horror month.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I finished watching it.

I personally think it’s far better than Nightmare.

Love this movie. And how awesome is Roach? Love A.J. Langer. She will always be Rayanne Graff to me. MSCL 4 EVA!

“Run Fool! Run!”

This movie is so much fun. It’s spooky in a subtle way and I like that it all takes place in a house.

Houses are spooky.

One of my absolute favorites.  When I was a kid, I would watch the VHS of this over and over and over.  Highly underrated film.  Not really scary, but tons of fun.

I think I need to re-watch this one, because I honestly only remember what I gleaned from seeing it on cable when I was a kid.  The guy from Twin Peaks is in this as the Ronald Regan-looking leather daddy, right?  Oh man, I can’t believe I just wrote that…

Both Man and Woman are from Twin Peaks. I think they played a couple on that show too but don’t quote me on that.  I actually watched this a few weeks ago for the first time in years and thought it held up pretty well. Kind of corny but I liked it. I’m not sure why it was rated R though. Unless there was some gore I blinked through.

R rating was most likely for the language, which did get salty in a few places and also there are a few bits of fairly gruesome gore (Ving Rhames’ half eaten corpse for one).  I can also getting an R for the tone, since I have heard of the MPAA slapping harsher ratings on movies for such things.  It’s kinda campy and silly, yea, but it’s really dark in several places.

You are right that both Mother and Father are from Twin Peaks and they did play a couple on that show, as well.  I think Craven wanted them based on those characters.

They are supposedly going to do a PUTS 2 that is going to be an absolute abortion of a film.  I have no idea how they got A.J. Langer to commit to that garbage.  My guess is she is broke.

This movie reminds me of Parents for some reason.  I think I like People Under the Stairs more than Parents though.  It’s defiantly rated R for the language, violence, and tone.  It was quite dirty in some places w/the leather daddy.  *shudder* Most positively better than Nightmare.  Only just topped by Serpent and the Rainbow.

If you’re going to create a fantasical world with the intention of scaring the poo out of me, you need to have rules and you need to abide by them.  Craven seemed to bend the rules as to how Freddy interacted with his victims to better accommodate what would look coolest on screen.  It’s still a good movie and I do like it, a lot.  I just thought PUTS was a much more solid story.
