10 movie reviews this episode, and yes, 1 of them is the Dark Knight. But this is NOT a Dark Knight episode! In fact, the Dark Knight gets a less than stellar review. Also, Television and Marla’s funbags.

I’ve listened to the episode this morning, and before everyone gets on my ass about this, I know Ledger didn’t die while filming this movie, and that he’s also in that “Imaginarium” movie coming out.

That’s the first time we’ve ever been mentioned first when it comes to the weekly podcast-funtimes-round-up at the end of this or any show.  Thanks bunches, Marla.

Grand show this week.  I can understand how one might like Hellboy 2 more than The Dark Knight, but I respectfully disagree.  If it’s a battle of visuals, then Hellboy 2 is certainly the champ, but the cult of personality was too strong for me to withstand and The Joker swallowed me up.  The thing I appreciated about both films, however, were the untraditional motivations of the villains.  That goes a long way towards getting me to invest in the story, particularly in a summer where even some of the best films (Iron Man) have had villains with very tired reasons for being…villainous.

That said, nothing got my heart/fist pumping harder than watching Batman flip that 18-Wheeler on its ass.  Or the Joker showing every major criminal in Gotham his “magic trick.”  Or Harvey Dent re-enacting the final scene from The Deer Hunter with Gordon’s kid as a good luck charm.  Or…

I’ve spent all day defending my opinion to the in-laws. The Dark Knight is an excellent movie. I’ll watch it again and it will probably hold up to me more than Hellboy 2 will when FX get better and better. My harsh criticism is mostly based in retaliation to all the fanboisim floating around the net right now.  At this particular time, Hellboy was simply a much more FUN movie to watch.  If I had to watch one of them again right now, it would be Hellboy hands down.  Ask me again in a few years and Dark Knight will win out!  Despite all my criticisms, the initial bank heist at the beginning of Dark Knight ranks up there with the main heist in Heat., . . truly amazing.

For now, and the next year or so, my review stands strong. After a year or so I’m sure I’ll be saying Dark Knight is the better flick.

As for Iron Man. . . I don’t think i’ll ever understand why everyone thought it was so amazing. It seemed so shallow to me.

So this shit w/ F13: is it real or just a publicity stunt you two cooked up? I’m leaning towards the latter.

If it was a publicity stunt, then where the hell is my publicity? No, F13’s just an ass-hat.

The publicity comes from him mentioning PBR on his show in a controversial and attention-grabbing manner and vice-versa.

Ok at least we know the truth.

Finally made it thru the show…these 2 hour shows are a bit long for me. But that aside…really solid show had some really good moments.
