I am surprised that no one has started a thread like this yet, or have they? Nope.

Just curious as to what are peoples favourite Zombie games? or general horror games?

I think personally the first 3 resident evil games, i also like silent hill 1 but whether there are Zombies in any of the silent hill games i am not entirely sure.

Also if anyone wants to play a Zombie Survival Game but doesn’t have a video games console then check out this link:

Surprisingly I have never played most of the horror/zombie games out there!  I just don’t have the time (I with I did).  I did buy “stubb’s the zombie” for computer but my computer was not advanced enough for it so had to return it.  The soundtrack for it is pretty cool though.  Oh, and I have played “house of the dead” in arcades before.

I’ve never played it (my video game experience these days seems restricted to random games of Rock Band), but DEAD RISING was well regarded when it came out. It sounded like it got old after a while, though.

But, let’s check out this list, eh?

I really enjoyed Dead Rising and had a good time with Stubbs (but I could not do the damn dance!)  Land of the Dead; the road to Fiddlers Green was also a lot of fun.  I am looking forward to Left 4 Dead,  They Hunger: Lost Souls, Dead Island, and Dead Space.  If its got zombies in it I will at least try it.

My favourite game is BrainBread, an online halflife mod.
It’s mission based (take briefcase to a certain spot, kill X amount of zombies, use radio etc) and can be played solo or coop. If you go below 0 hps you turn into a fast running zombie and have to kill 2 humans (other players or computer controlled) to respawn as a human again. There is also a simple experience points system so you can increase your hitpoints, speed and skill level.
What makes it best for me is the computer controlled zombies, they are pretty dumb, slow moving and pretty relentless. It’s a real panic when you get stuck in the midst of a mob of them.
There is a halflife2 version coming out….sometime. Looks pretty, just hope the game play stays intact.

I liked Stubbs the zombie, i thought it was a fun game that was surprisingly funny as well. Dead rising is a great game to, it did get a bit crazy with some of the thing it wanted you to do though. Also i am definitely dead excited (sorry about the pun) about left for dead though, i think that game will be brilliant. I liked House of the dead in the arcade as well but only played it a few times.

Hands-down, those first two “Resident Evil” games were zombie classics for my gaming experience.  I GUESS if one wanted to count the “Splatterhouse” series as featuring zombies, then I’d be loathe to not mention those.

Just curious but i noticed that a lot of people are looking into post apocalypic books, so i thought, are the gamers out there looking forward to Fallout 3? i know i am. I love the fact that it will have abandoned schools and hospitals, and yet even though it is like 200 hundred years in the future how the decor is stuck in the 1950’s.

Im wimpy to sit through playing a resi game, so my favourite game is a homebrew game boy colour game called Hungry Are The Dead. Turn based, with a slint hint of strategy. Also I think Sweet Home on the NED deserves a mention as I can’t imagine any zombie game being before that

Hmm….well, I love the Resident Evil games. Resident Evil 4 didn’t have any zombies, though, and Resident Evil 5 looks to be the same in that regard. However, RE4 was fun. Best in the series, in my opinion. I’m looking forward to the Resident Evil CG film coming later this year, also.

Really happy that zombies are so popular these days in videogames. Dead Space, Dead Rising Wii, House of the Dead Overkill, etc.

It’s a pity this one never came out:

A George Romero game ‘starring’ Tom Savini? Looks like it would’ve been amazing.

I love horror games.  As far as zombie games,  I loved RE on the ds and House of the Dead.  Are there any Sims 2 players here?  Sims 2 also has zombies. =P They are the shambling zombies too, but unfortunately, when they do other activities, they are suddenly agile Sims.  A zombie jump roping?  Odd.

Anyone ever try : http://www.urbandead.com/ definitely a great way to “kill” a few mins everyday ;)

What’s this game about?

You’re a citizen of Malton, a city that’s in the process of being evacuated and quarantined to contain a sinister contagion - you play as either a trapped civilian, a member of the evacuating military, a scientist operating in the background, or a victim of the early outbreaks.

Malton is a grid of 100x100 city blocks, each of which is either a nondescript street, or a particular type of building - you move around the map by clicking on the names of the blocks. Buildings can be entered and barricaded by survivors, to shelter from the zombie hordes that roam the city.

Other citizens of Malton appear on the map as names in coloured boxes (the colour matching their class; green for Military, blue for Science, red for Civilian and grey for Zombie); they also appear in the location’s description.

Some character classes start with equipment, and all characters can search to find further objects during the course of the game - some are weapons, some are one-use items, others have subtler or more permanent effects. All characters start with at least one Skill, which grants them an extra ability or bonus in the game - by gaining experience points, players can buy further skills and develop their characters.

Players get fifty “actions” per day - these are be used to move, attack, search or otherwise interact with the city. When your action points are gone, you have to wait for them to recharge. (Players remain visible and vulnerable on the map when they’re out of Action Points or logged out; survivor players should find secure shelter between logins.)

What should I be doing?

It’s up to you how to play the game, but as a general guidline: as a survivor, you should search the city for helpful equipment, and for other people to team up with. You’ll be quite vulnerable to begin with, so don’t risk drawing too much attention to yourself (some higher-level zombies have the ability to follow a survivor that’s attacked them and run away), and make sure that you’re safely hidden in a building that’s either secured or barricaded, when you’ve finished for the day.

Existence as a zombie is rather simpler. It can be a good idea to find a horde at the end of the day, though - a lone zombie is a much easier target for a passing zombie hunter.

(There are some more in-depth player guides in the Wiki.)
