you know what i was ready to rip this to shreds, but then I thought about it. He could actually really pull this off. thinking back at some of his roles (sling blade to be exact) Billy Bob is a much better actor than he gets credit for. i think his dry wit could be really good in the Freddy role.
I think he is a very good actor when he wants to be (A Simple plan) so it would be interesting to see him play Freddy. But this is only rumor…in an interview Robert Englund said he thought Thornton would be a great Freddy in the remake, and that’s where the rumors came from. So chances are it will not happen, plus they will want to go with someone younger if they are going to reboot the franchise.

I have heard that Ben Foster (X3, 6 Feet Under) is considered for the role, and I think he would be the best replacement for Robert Englund.
