I am not sure whether this is old news or not, but night of the living dead is coming out on blu ray:

I think i might pick this up, but, can a film made that long ago really look that much better in HD?

Who knows i guess.

Not sure; maybe if they were able to remaster the original print, but I don’t know for sure.

Is this going to be the original movie or the 1990 remake? The cover is to be decided, but the one they have up on that site is from the remake, I believe.

Edit: Nevermind, it’s the original film. Can’t wait!

Is this really news? How much more high definition can you make NOTLD? Are you going to be able to see the film grain even more clearly? Are the grays going to be more vibrant? Cooper in surround sound?

Agreed.  I haven’t seen the 40th. anniversary print, yet, so I can’t say what they’ve necessarily done to improve that version’s presentation, but IS there anything else that can be done to the movie to make it more “hi-def”?  (Well, outside of the promise that the Blu-Ray purchase grants you one visit from Bill Heinzman, dressed up as “The Ghoul”, to chase you around your home while watching the movie.  Talk about Hi-Def, thar!)

I am kinda thinking about that myself, especially seeing as blu ray can cost much more than normal DVD. I always find it funny how you see reasonably old films on blu ray, i mean how much better can they look?

I guess it’s okay if you have a blu-ray and you’re collecting all your favorite movies on that format alone anyway. I’m just sayin’.

The 40th anniversary print was the best issue I could have hoped for, aside from maybe adding even more anecdotes and interviews. The picture was clear - cleaned up but still looking it’s age as it should.

I’m going to hold out for the 60th anniversary hologram.
