So after Doc-Cember, does anyone have any suggestions as to what sort of films they’d like to hear us discuss?  We’ve been trying to integrate festivals into the show since we started, but schedules are always such a bitch.  Now that we’ve conquered Shoctoberfest, I think we’re better equipped to handle something like the Patrick Swarayze (a month of Swayze flicks) or finally finish the Emilio Festivez.

So if there’s a certain actor, director, genre, whatever, etc, et. al…that you’d like to hear us talk about, then let us know.  I’m pretty sure I’ve tried starting threads like this in the past but they’ve never worked.  Here’s hoping this one does.

Also, if you have a clever name for the fest, include that.  It’s not necessary, but we’re nerds and we like stupid puns, so do it.

Suggestions in the past have included:

The Vincent Price Fight

Slug Fest (a fest about mollusks or boxers…or both!)

Al Pacinema Paradiso (Pacino movies…or Italian flicks, either way)

...

You get the idea

A Month Leong Celebration of Al Leong

Al Leong (born Albert Leong, aka Al ‘Ka Bong’) is an Asian American stuntman and actor. Characterised by impressive martial arts skills, long wavy hair, and a prominent Fu Manchu moustache, he has had a number of small but memorable roles as the token long-haired Asian henchman in popular action films, that usually ended in his character’s death. Among action movie fans Leong has a cult following.

I couldn’t think of a good name for it.  I like Al Night Leong. And please use Lionel Richie’s All Night Long as your theme music. kthxbai

Also, I’m pretty sure we’re going to watch all of the Star Trek movies leading up to the reboot.

If you watch all the Star Trek movies will you be able to confirm the even number theory? Apply the scientific method!

Also- I like Al Night Leong too. That sounds great.

The song is definitely in.

And yeah, my friend (a fellow Trek fanatic) and I are going to prove that the even numbered Trek films don’t suck (for the most part).

Al Night Leong sounds awesome! I remember him being a totally bitchy photographer in She’s Having a Baby. That should be one of the movies on your list. If nothing else, but to see him actually speak.

What about a Cruise-ing for a piece of ass. An episode where you pit the swordplay in Highlander against Last Samurai.

What about a skeleton-in-the-closet festival where you watch the first films big celebrities did, specifically the bad ones. I mean bad film not bad celebrity.

Oooooh!  We could watch The Italian Stallion!  That’s actually a good one, DZ.

It’s funny you brought this up tonight, because I finally got around to watching Night Moves and James Woods and Melanie Griffith are both incredibly young in it.  Weird.

I’m sure there’s all sorts of embarrassing shit out there that we could take advantage of.

I don’t have a cute name for it but I would like to see a Mickey Rourke film fest. When I was a teenager I idolized this man. I named my second child after this man.My favorites are: Diner, The Pope of Greenwich Village,
Year of the Dragon, Angel Heart, and Barfly. His career went in the toilet
after these films but at one time I thought he was gonna be the next big thing. Many compared him to James Dean.

I liked him in Johnny Handsome. It’s your basic 80’s revenge film, but Rourke was damn good in it. I suppose it’s not a bad thing, but Barfly made me really dislike bars. That was a depressing film.

Angel Heart is a must see. An absolutely awesome film. It’s on the sweaty side too. Not sure why that’s important, but otherwise the film is too much fun for anyone to make up an excuse to not see it.

That’s a good one.  I love Angel Heart (and actually, I’d like to do a month of Alan Parker films one of these days too) but I haven’t seen a lot of the other stuff that makes up the bulk of Rourke’s “salad days.”  I’ve been meaning to watch TPOGV and the rest of those for a long time now, so this definitely has my vote.
