Albertan, I’m noticing a real macabre theme! LOL

What can I say, I love everything horror, even music.

Waitaminute.
Albertan? As in…Alberta, Canada?

Yeah, i live in Calgary

Really? Me too! Awesome.

Did you go to the “Evil Dead” screening at the Plaza Theater recently? It was brilliant.

And I like the surprise at the end.

Devin Townsend Project - Disruptr

The Mars Volta - Desperate Graves

High on Fire - Turk

Cynic - Nunc Stans

Michael Jackson - Dirty Diana (obligatory, I know, but it’s good)

My top five bands/albums:

1.  Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon—no doubt about it, tops in my book.  Love them or hate them, no one makes an album as sonically rich as Floyd.  Dark Side is my favorite, closely followed by Wish You Were Here.  Pulse is the best live album ever.  BTW, Alan Parsons produced Dark Side—the Alan Parsons Project is another guilty pleasure.

2.  Boston, Self-Titled—just great, straight-ahead rock.  Every track is great, with More Than a Feeling and Foreplay/Long Time the best on the album.  Power chords aplenty.

3.  AC/DC, Back in Black—AC/DC’s had plenty of great tracks, but Back in Black, even without Bon Scott, is just great, kick ass rock.  Everyone knows the big hits from this album, but Have a Drink on Me and Rock And Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution are also great songs from this one.

4.  The Eagles, Greatest Hits—Putting a “Best Of” album is a bit of a cop out, but this one’s outstanding.  Love each one of these songs.  Better than the second Eagles GH’s album, which is also great.  Seven Bridges Road is a personal fave.

5.  Willie Nelson, Stardust—Willie Nelson has about a million great songs; he’s about as close as America’s got these days to a troubador.  Stardust is Willie’s homage to old American songs.  Everyone’s head Georgia on My Mind, which is great, but his versions of All of Me, Don’t Get Around Much Anymore, and especially Blue Skies, are beautiful tributes to Tin Pan Alley.  Red Headed Stranger comes in a close second.

“Head Crusher”, Megadeth’s new single, is now available for free here (for a little while, anyway). Pretty awesome song, if you ask me. Can’t wait to hear the rest of Endgame.

Been on a Metallica kick recently. Slowly listening to all of their major albums. Ride the Lightning is my favorite, but Master of Puppets is damn close. And I still really enjoy Death Magnetic. Next up are Kill ‘Em All, ...And Justice for All, Load, and ReLoad. I won’t bother with The Black Album or St. Anger (although I am morbidly curious as to how bad it really is).

I’m also working on “acquiring” the rest of Slayer’s discography, which I look forward to listening to. Shouldn’t take too long. Their albums are all pretty short. I’m kind of embarassed that it’s taken me this long to listen to Reign in Blood, though (and I’m only halfway through it). The lyrics are always kind of hit-and-miss for me, but they suit the music. And besides, it’s Slayer.

5.Dead Kennedys- Frankenchrist is my fav album by them, but all of their albums are great

4.Tori Amos-The Crucify EP is my favorite of hers. I think her cover of “smells like teen spirit"is miles better than the original.

3.Misfits-Hard to choose just one,but right now i have been listening to Static age alot.

2.The Browns-Greatest Hits Volume 1,first heard them earlier this year and i had to go out and get everything they have released. Like the Misfits they are very horror infulanced, but they have more of a pop sound.

1.The Ramones-can’t choose just one album, but “we’re a happy family” is my current fave song by them. Been a fan of them for almost 30 years now. Seen them 3 times in concert.IMHO they are the best band that never had a top 40 hit.
