Nice, I’m sending the pitch now.

I just thought of an image. A guy is licking a frozen corpse and his tongue gets stuck.

Think Christmas Story, but all wrong. Considering the kid who stuck his tongue to the pole in that movie got into porn it’s not a stretch to imagine him making a frozen corpse licking scene.

I’m never going to be able to watch “The Christmas Story” again and not feel dirty….

I guess the notlp box is full. I keep getting an error when I send to you guys. Clean out your box daily. Use vinegar if you must.

You don’t even have to trade a pitch, send me one I’ll still put music to it…the only recorded copy I have of it was a live performance, not the best quality but also not too bad.  I’ll see if Freddy can put it up on the “Our Sh*t” link.  Here are the lyrics.  I sort of hate posting my lyrics because it makes me feel like a mopey goth kid trying to get people to read their poetry but honestly the recording is not great and it might be hard to understand all the words so, judge me how you will!

Jamie was an intern in her first year college, med school
Jamie had a job at the morgue
everybody teased her but they didn’t know it pleased her
to be all by herself, at the morgue

She closed the doors,
then opened drawers (this part repeats at the end of the second verse also)

Chorus: Hey, hey Jamie tell me what’s on your mind
Hey, hey Jamie there’s a word for your kind
they can’t judge if they can’t open their eyes
      no they never say no

Jamie met Armando at a mixer in October
She asked him to come with her to the morgue
but he couldn’t please her so she put him in the freezer
another lover she kept in the morgue

chorus:

Didn’t lock the door, they caught you in your lingerie
trying to be understood by breathless lips and frosted hands
then security was dragging you half naked down the hall
you decided to accept the name you knew you would be called

FIN——

A tad obvious but it is a tongue in cheek kind of alt rock thing.  I’ll get Freddy to post the mp3.

Nice! I remember this song from the LIVE from the Poison Room episode. It’s been a long time since I listened to that one, but I remember really liking this song.

How can you really make this list? It’s too tough. Off the top though:

1) Nine Inch Nails
2) Depeche Mode
3) KMFDM
4) Def Lepard
5) Collective Soul

Though there’s about a billion others that would all be like 5.1—Motley Crue, Modern Talking, Rob Zombie(for his MUSIC), and I’m sure I’m forgetting like 40 others. (my .mp3 hard drive just went down or I could check for you…)

Not sure if Kangas meant Rob Zombie solo stuff exclusively or includes White Zombie under that heading.  I like both but I think I like the White Zombie stuff a tiny little bit better.  Of course “Living Dead Girl” is a classic though.  I put that on when I want to draw sexy/scary stuff.  Great choices!

All time would be -

1. James Brown, especially the J.B Horns era
2. Paul Simon, especially the Graceland/Rhythm of the Saints era
3. Pink Floyd, any album/era
4. Sam and Dave, the Stax Years
5. The Wu-Tang Clan, 90s work especially

Lately, the Crookers have blown me away, mentalist electro from Italy.

Woot! I love top 5 stuff….mine would have to be

1) Coheed and Cambria (Come on…all their albums are going to be graphic novels…how cool is that?)

2) Tomahawk ( I prefer the first self titled but Mit Gas is good as well..I have to say I’m a fan of most of Mike Pattons work but Tomahawk is my favorite of his)

3)Buckethead (I’ve only listend to Elephant Man’s Alarm Clock and Crime Slunk Scene but his shit is insane and fun to mock dance to0)

4)Muse (yeah)

5) Mastondon ( how can you not enjoy a band that does a concept album based on Moby Dick)

these were in no particular order except for the number one spot…and yes coheed is totally crack for the ears.

Thanks for the high five. NIN is definitely awesome—have seen them in concert three times.

And I like Zombie’s solo stuff better than White Zombie, though a lot of White Zombie’s stuff is cool.

and btw: I looked up that band you played at the end of the episode(Lordi), which I’d never heard before. Ordered the Deadache album off of Amazon—man, those guys are freakin’ good! It’s a horror-themed album, and very reminiscent of 80’s heavy metal.

And they dress up. So they’re like Gwar, but with actual musical talent.

My top five…

1. Queen (for their presentation)
2. Johnny Cash (for his swagger and stories)
3. Bob Dylan (for his brilliant lyrics)
4. The Talking Heads (for breaking the mold)
5. Sam Cooke (for his voice)

(***honorable mention goes to Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show)

and because my list made me feel old…

My top five contemporary bands…

1. The Darkness (had their lead singer not developed a crippling coke addiction, I’m almost certain they would’ve resurrected glam rock).
2. The Ting Tings (because they’re fun)
3. Brandi Carlile (Sarah McLaughlin, eat your heart out)
4. Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals (because he’s a great talent)
5. My Chemical Romance (for proving to me that bands can still make a good album, start-to-finish, with “The Black Parade”)

Queen for their presentation? Man, give it to ‘em for their harmony. Those guys could(and did) sing opera, and it sounded great! THAT’S saying something.

(yes, I’m bagging on opera)

And I like Sam Cooke too. But damn you’re old. :)

I couldn’t agree more about the harmony. Especially on A Night at the Opera! I think the edge they had on other groups was that they were larger than life.

Also, last time I checked, you had a few years on me gramps. ;)

I know I’m kinda late to the party, but I thought I’d throw my current top 5 in:

The Police (Synchronicity) - Easily the greatest band ever assembled.  The only band to incorporate Reggae into their sound and not have it fill me with rage (I’m looking at you, 311 and all you other frat rock retards).  Sting and the others played with themes of obsession and isolation and presented them with such simple beauty that they almost make such pains atractive.  Sting’s solo work leaves me torn, because he slowly went Stevie Nicks-crazy, but his sound hasn’t suffered a bit.

MC Frontalot (Nerdcore Rising) - He’s got amazing flow, especially considering the subject matter he’s dealing with.  Anyone who can come up with a rhyme about being pissed on at a Star Wars Convention, and still make it as smooth and effortless as an early Common track deserves some recognition.

Jonathan Coulton (Where Tradition Meets Tomorrow) - Another master of making the absurd sound absolutely beautiful, Jonathan Coulton could easily go straight and have a wildly successful pop music career.  Skullcrusher mountain could easily be a hit with the kids if they didn’t pay attention to the lyrics.  If nothing else hit up his music store and pick up Re: Your Brains (or Re: Vos Cerveaux, for the Frogs out there).  It’s a must for the discerning Horror fan/office worker.

The Postal Service (Give Up) - The only bad thing about this one-time team up is that Jimmie Tamborello’s beats were such a perfect home for Ben Gibbard’s emotive voice, his work with Death Cab (another of my regular plays) sounds out of place, plaintive, and discordant at times.

Journey (Frontiers) - Corny, I know.  Shows my age, I know.  However, it is hard to deny the power of this San Francisco ballad band.  They are the band every loves, but no one will admit to loving.  We all know the words to Don’t Stop Believin’.  Faithfully comes out of the DJ’s speakers, and you instinctively look for a slow dance partner.  They perfected the art of the Power Ballad, effectively destroying it.  No one will ever make another.  No one will ever need to.

Son, if you were charged with saving an entire species, the ventral arching of the Lordosis Reflex would bring a tear to your eye.
