What did you hear that pissed you off?  What did you hear that wasn’t covered as thoroughly as you would have liked?  What did you hear that was AWESOME?

The pubes in Sears cracked me up.  That topic could have lasted much longer- especially if you dive into more reasons you might need to trim in a Sears restroom (or any restroom for that matter).  My only suggestion for your podcast is to cut back on talking over each other.  It gets hard to listen to at times when you are both talking at the same time.  Other than that- good show.

You’re not the first to suggest this.  We just get sooo excited some times.  Well a lot of the time.  OK almost all the time.

Can you record yourselves seperately to minimize overlapping talk by seperating the tracks?

We do record into seperate tracks and then mix the two together but I’m not sure I follow you or what the outcome of that would be.

But I get it.  Our converstation get pretty fast furious and we tend to talk over each other.

It’s a real problem.  We’re seeking help for it.  :)

You know, I tried to do that once…the recording in separate tracks from separate inputs.  I couldn’t figure out how to do it.

You know, I tried to do that once…the recording in separate tracks from separate inputs.  I couldn’t figure out how to do it.

The feasibility of recording into separate channels depends on your mixer, mics and if you want to do any post mixing.

For example, I have a Behringer MX602 mixer which has 6 channels.  Remember left and right equals 2 channels.  Two of those channels support phantom power which is required for any un-powered mic.  The other four channels could be used for mic inputs if the mics had a separate power source.

So when Erik and I record I set one channel to left and one channel to right.  After I record I separate the right and left channels into two mono channels.  This allows me to turn one guy up, one guy down and turn on a little compression for a more even sound.  From there I take those two treated mono channels and fire them up in Vegas Video which supports unlimited audio tracks.  Once that’s complete I can add music, sound effects, cut out coughs etc.

The whole process takes me about an hour.  I think I could avoid all of it if we would just get some headphones.  Erik and I don’t have any audio monitor so we never really know how loud we are which is why I like to do some of the post audio work.

Long story short, based on your sound quality Zac, I don’t think you need to worry about multiple tracks or post audio editing.  Just get Adam to talk louder :)

I think we might finally have this addressed.  We have headphones.  It is now distracting to us when we attempt to talk over the other person.
Check it out.
