The writing has been on the wall for a while now but it seems that after the sale of Tower Records, all of their stock is going to be liquidated and the stores closed down.  I don’t know about anyone else around here but I used to drop plenty of money at Tower on a wide range of music and movies.  Thanks to Tower, I discovered a lot of jazz and classical artists and music I’ll never find at Borders or Best Buy.  It’s sad but you could see this closure coming for years now, as they pared down their selection of fringe stuff and began to focus only on more popular music to drive sales.

Tower, thanks for Thelonius Monk and John Coltrane.  Thanks for all the imports I could never have found anywhere else.  Thanks for the late night music runs and the hours spent pouring over music I’d never heard of before.

Tower was awesome.  First Virgin and now Tower...all the good stores are closing.  Where will I find decent music now?

There is still good tunes on the podsafe music network.

I know that online sales have affected retail stores.  iTunes has caused music stores overall sales to drop only 6% but that kind of dip might have been the tipping poiint for some.

I hate to hear that; I always loved Tower Records, despite the fact that there isn’t one within 4 hours of here (Little Rock).  Great selection.

Don’t worry about the Monk and Coletrane, Stefan.  I’m sure you’ll still be able to pick up plenty of Usher and Pussycat Dolls at Worst Buy.

My cousin snagged a number of Buffy figures for me. I think there’s an Angel, Spike and Buffy with an axe in there.

Tower was pretty much tredding water in the end. It’s sad, but…

I was glad to see Tower Records go.  I can find pretty much anything i want at other places, the employees were snobbish, and they were very overpriced.  i also had a few personal problems with tower that I won’t go into on here.  Good riddance.
