The following question is genuine, even if it does subtly hint that people ought to visit my blog ;).

Anyway, the title says it all. I’m having trouble achieving a median between shoving descriptive words and overlong sentences into my movie reviews and making them “cool”, hyperkinetic and punchy. Any tips?

The reason I want to ask this is because I don’t want to alienate people when they read my reviews.

(also, for an extra bonus point: have I missed anything out in my FAQ? Are any of the questions meandering or confusing? http://stupidhorrormovies.blogspot.com/2009/03/faq.html)

Thanks! - Zacery

The main goal to your writing should be clarity and conciseness first and your style will work around those two things.  Trying to ‘affect’ a style never really works and you can’t please all of your readers anyway.

Write the truth, in your own voice.  It will either work or not.  If not…try a new medium.  :D
