This week we cover a couple of new shows: The Unusuals and Parks and Recreation. Then we spend some quality time puzzling over Dollhouse, Fringe, Cupid, Party Down, The Derek Report, The United States of Tara, Better Off Ted, The Office, and LOST.

I know I am in the minority here, but I still like Fringe…it is dumb and simple but the show thinks itself brillant….

I was watching Dollhouse and then word came down of cancellation, I think Whedon gave up on it a year ago and just had these things laying around…it had potential….

I still enjoy Castle because of Fillion, and I think Better Off Ted is still very caustic yet polite about its humor…the mix works well.

My wife and I enjoyed Parks and Recreation but it was a pilot and it had that feel completely….heres my thoughts on Lost, if you are one of those people who dropped it a while back, I’m sorry….if your still on the Lost train, sit back and enjoy…

I wanna add that this past week I watched the Friday Night Lights season finale and that show is well thought out and very well done…more people should be watching it as it is about more than football, its basically about a town unified over the only thing they can agree on which is winning…and now after this season….things are going to get very interesting…

Fringe has had two weird, fun episodes in a row (I am hoping that continues tonight) so I can’t say it is the greatest show ever but it’s been entertaining for the first time ever.

We were going to talk about FNL this week but ran out of time, but I expect we’ll discuss the finale and the 2 season pick up deal with Direct TV/NBC.  I’m a spotty viewer of the show - Deeps watches much more regularly.

I had heard a lot of good things about Friday Night Lights for years, but blew it off as “just about football” which I had no interest in. Then one night it happened to be on and I happened to watch. I was surprised at how good it actually was. So I watched it when I happened to remember it was on. But then I missed a few weeks and didn’t see it, and I don’t miss it. But whenever it comes back on again, I might watch again, if it’s there and I’m there and nobody else is watching and the Tivo and I keep it just between us and nobody else knows (that’s why I posted this to a web site).

Unlike Pushing Daisies, which I also discovered too late, but I’ll get the DVD.

Love the podcast…

When you talk about the food you make everyone before you record the podcast, no matter what the food is, I always picture you all sitting behind 12” stacks of waffles, forks raised. They look like very good waffles.

I think most people agree that FNL is good for S1, shady for S2 and okay for S3. I could be wrong - but that’s the intel I’m getting from Deeps. I think it’s a good show to catch up with on DVD. And I think creatively they’re in a better place to plan out their story arcs since they know they’ve got short seasons but two of them.

As for what we eat before - you’re not totally wrong. We usually have brunch before (unless it’s crazy hot then we go find a restaurant with AC - which is harder than you’d think in New England). The rotating menu includes sausages, scrambled eggs with two kinds of cheese, pancakes or waffles, and sometimes hash browns or smoothies or both. I make a lot of food - but that’s usually it for us for the rest of the day.

Thanks for listening!

I would agree with that assessment.  The first season was really strong, but it kind of got off the rails in the second season. This past season didn’t reach the highs of the first season, but was still really good. If you have Netflix, the first and second seasons are on-demand online. I am really looking forward to S4 - I think a reboot built around a new high school will be a positive shake-up for the show.
