I LOVE that someone remembers the My Little Ponies movie with Catrina!!!!  All the time I’m walking around singing “My little Ponies escape from Catrina!” even though that’s not how the song went at all…wasn’t she voiced by Eartha Kitt?  No wait, she was voiced by the lady who voiced Molly Grue in The Last Unicorn but that lady SOUNDS like Eartha Kitt a little bit.

Also I was a HUGE Godzilla nerd as a little kid.  I watched Godzilla movies every saturday.

I still have my My Little Ponies to this day, and will someday let my kids have ‘em! I loved MLP, and my dad taped all of the special movies for me, but the one with Catrina was the best because it was so dark and she was so very very evil (and had cool fangs). Here’s some pointless trivia for you regarding Tammy Grimes, the voice of Catrina: she’s Amanda Plummer’s mom. Amanda Plummer used to scare the SHIT out of me.

Godzilla movies are the best, hands down! G.I Joe Godzilla always were shown one after the other where I lived as a kid, so the two are indelibly entwined in my head.

Now that you mention it I can hear the voice resemblence between Ms. Grimes and her erstwhile daughter Amanda Plummer who never plays anyone who is of sound mental constitution.

They showed Godzilla movies on channel 19 hear on Saturday afternoons and I was hooked.  Godzilla vs. Monster X (which I believe was later renamed Godzilla vs. Ghidorah the 3 headed Monster) was my favorite because it had all the regular monsters, Godzilla, Rodan and Mothra, teaming up against Ghidorah and Titanosaurus.  My brother bought me these two large plastic toys, one was Godzilla and one was Rodan and I used to sit with them (as some children might have sat with their teddy bears) and watch those movies like it was me and my two best pals.  Ahhh, I miss being five years old sometimes.  Actually I miss it quite a lot, heheheh.

In no order really:
The Terminator
Goonies
Fright Night
Romancing the Stone
Dolls (the horror to get me hooked on horror)
Annie
Xanadu (that’s right)
Grease
Star Wars
Indiana Jones(all of them)
Ghostbusters
Lost Boys
Bachelor Party(this is a movie that I shouldn’t have watched as a kid and I have no idea why it was a favorite.  I still to this day can’t figure out what the mixer/blender was used for.)

That’s more than 10 I know.

There were so many, but these are just 10 of the ones I dropped life to see every chance, early to very early in my life:

1. Raiders of the Lost Ark (Hands Down)
2. Empire Strikes Back (then Star Wars)
3. Xanadu
4. The Pirate Movie
5. Jaws
6. Willard & Ben the Rat
7. Outsiders
8. Secret of Nhim
9. The Birds
10. Grease/Grease 2

Watership Down
Karate Kid
War Games
Red Dawn
Lost Boys
Bambi
Stand By Me
...
...
...

Yes!  Demise, your list made me happy.  Another Xanadu!  I drove my mom nuts with it.  She really wanted me to find another musical.  Red Dawn scared the crap out of me though.  To the point that I can’t really watch it now.

Erica, I loved Adventures in Babysitting!  I need to see that again.

If I had known about The Dark Crystal when I was a wee lad, it would make my top ten easy.

I just saw where they are remaking Red Dawn. :( My childhood will be destroyed.  I am sure in the new version instead of saying “Wolverines”, they will say “Jonas Brothers” or something even worse. They will delete the pissing in the carburetor scene. This is just terrible news. I am going to watch the original tomorrow to bring back some good memories.

These are all a bit “light”, even for movies you loved as a kid, don’t you think?  Maybe you should list movies with a little bit more substance.  ; ’ )
