So yeah, it’s not over.
There were some hiccups though, mainly in the form of Netflix’s waiting period for BOTH(!) of the movies we had planned for this week. As such, we turned to their Watch Instantly feature and have chosen two movies that probably couldn’t be more diametrically opposed: The Last Dragon and Charlie Varrick.
One is about black martial artists in Harlem, the other casts Walter Mathau as a career criminal on the run after a botched robbery (I think). Both, are (presumably) excellent.
Also(!): Beef returns! His college semester is over, and his last issue as editor-in-chief at The Union is in the can, which means that he has plenty of time to sit around watching and talking about movies with us again. No word yet on the whereabouts of Alan, but I fully expect a full reunion in the next couple of weeks, complete with a Top 5 and installment of The Most Dangerous Game.
Hooray!
Also, unless otherwise noted, we’ll be watching Grey Gardens and I Love Maria NEXT week. I’m thinking that’ll probably change again (they both have a pretty long waiting period), but we’ll see.
