Since some dickhead has been irritating the NOTLP crew (specifically Erica - whom we all love) recently, I think the crew needs to know why people like them. So, I’ll begin the flow (odd choice of words, I know).

Anyway, I like NOTLP because:

- On a crappy Monday morning or Sunday evening, when I’ve got no money and nothing to laugh at; there’s nothing on TV and I’ve got loads of schoolwork in, I download their show. They make me laugh out loud and cheer me up after a (usually) crappy weekend. They talk about things that make me chuckle and make me smile when my family act like assholes. So thanks NOTLP, I hope your show never ends - I want to be forty and listening to you ?fifty? year olds (you’re all aged 20-30 right?) talking about the Final Destination remake and Friday the 13th part 10 :D

Anyone else?

I kind of enjoy being a teenage listener. Makes me feel special.

I like NotLP because they’re f**king awesome. All the time. Not a very thorough answer, but what can I say? They’re the best. I love the show and I love the community. Can’t even remember when I started listening… must’ve been midway through my Freshman year, now that I think about it. Time sure flies…

I have to say that Freddy’s brilliance knows no bounds and he makes me laugh my nuts off during every show.  Now of course, all of my fellow podcasters are hilarious and smart in their own way.  I enjoy Chiz for both his encyclopaedic knowlege of basically everything which he disseminates in a hilarious way and I love his hearty adventurer’s laugh; I enjoy Erica’s unabashedness and her turn of phrase and when her voice gets really high.  Also she has a social concience so that I don’t have to.  I love how Andy can go from bitchy to warm and sincere in a matter of moments.  He’ll “oh snap” something and the next thing you know he’s saying how something was really touching and heartfelt.  I like that a lot.  Amy and I, much like Freddy and I, go waaaaay bsck so we can almost have a conversation without actually saying very many words.  I love that she can educate you on an actor who played the guy who watered the plants on an episode of the X-Files (season seven) and what he’s up to now, then becomes a powderkeg and de-balls something or someone for being stupid and then explodes into that high, whooping giggle of hers all in one auctioneeresque breath.  I’m glad that Blair has been popping up on the show because she just says whatever she’s thinking at that moment, but quietly so that you almost have to go back a second time just to catch it.  It’s usually very funny AND she knows what she’s talking about.  Of course I love me because you never know what you’re going to get with me.  Sometimes I’m very on topic and everything I say is just “funny” and then sometimes I’m having one of my “weird” days and I draw inanimate objects trying to do the humpty dance with animals and I giggle.  Either way, I’m a tremendous talent.  But Freddy, ahhhhh Freddy…I can’t count how many little bon mots he’s dropped over the years that I go back to in my head and still find myself laughing out loud at them.  The sh*t he comes up with right off the cuff makes me think that he should be writing for the tv box or the movin pictures.  He makes me laugh a lot AND the first time I watched Return of the Living Dead was at his house in, like, the tenth grade and it was cool.  So that’s what I love about NOTLP.

Marry me Kelley? Seriously, that was really sweet.

I agree about Blair though, I’ve re-listened to the Blair Witch episode more times than I care to say just to catch her witticisms :D

And yes, Freddy does have a talent for coming up with random, hilarious stuff very quickly, i.e.:

Chiseck: Man blows dolphin, more at 11…and 11.05…and 11.10

Freddy: Ah f’ck it, we’re gonna devote a whole cable channel to it!

I recited that from memory folks (after that Amy christens the cable channel “DBJTV”

I have been a fan of NOTLP for as long as I can remember, and have met them (almost all of them) and they are sweet and genuine people…they are THE podcast I listen to when I need a pick me up….they are informative and honestly I like their show because they ARE opinionated….

Why else would people listen to other people sit in a room and talk about movies?....baffling that some tightwad cant take it for what it is….you want a forum dipshit? Man up and make your own podcast!!!

That last paragraph was aimed at you-know-who….

Let me just say that I think the world is a better place because NOTLP is in it….adios….

Kisses and Hugs,

I’m pretty sure NOTLP help me get a B in university math.
For the longest time I couldn’t just sit and do the homework, I’d just stare at the papers bored out of my skull. Then I started listening to you guys when studying math. Math became one of my favourite subjects because I could do the equations while listening to NOTLP. You guys made me enjoy math. That is a major accomplishment :P

And I love the show because it’s hystarical and brings things into my life that would have never been there otherwise. Like dolphin blow jobs :D

NOTE: I was totally gonna go on enumerating the individual merits of each of the Crew - but Kelly stole my thunder. So here goes Plan smurfin B.

Sound of the metal chair legs scraping the floor as I stand, coffee fumes permeate the air in the church basement in which the meeting is being held. People wearily crane their heads around the room to acknowledge me as I rise.

Hi. My name is Randy and I’m an NOTLPer. (Chorus: Hi, Randy) It started out oh, about three years ago. I thought I had it under control. I’d download an episode, darkly chuckle occasionally, and go about my life. But once a week just wasn’t enough. I didn’t want to come down from the high I got from listening. For 2 hours a week, give or take, I was happy. And I mean smurfin gurgling in the womb happy. You all know what I mean, right? (my quick glance around the room is met with knowing nods). I was riding lightning, reliving the thrills of the movies I loved in the warm company of the fastest minds and foulest mouths in the midwest.

I thought it would never end. I was Carrie White with an armful of flowers and the most handsome boy at the prom on my arm. Then one dark, terrifying episode, it happened. Kelley left me. The news came tumbling out from the darkness like a bucket of cold pigs’ blood to brain my date (and spare me the awkward end of that Prom Anecdote) and splatter me with Porcine B-Neg and skull particles pasted with odd bits of blond ‘fro.

I guess I went off the rails for awhile. I don’t remember much after that. Yeah, my beloved Crew was still there, but minus one. I’d lie awake tossing and turning. Wondering what would Kelley have said there. Or worrying if Chiseck would be gone next weekend. I became agoraphobic, I’d sit in front of my computer waiting for the download - hand drumming endlessly on the desk like a junkie waiting for his fix to boil in his spoon. One episode Andy’d be out, and I’d worry that he’d meet Mr. Right and blow off the podcast permanently. I had nightmares of Amy and Freddie adopting a Laotian child or two and bagging the podcast.

So, I stopped deleting the episodes, and erased everything else off my Zune, so I could just shuffle all the happy times, and not get interrupted by Clutch or Frankie goes to Hollywood.

The episodes all blurred together as I took a header into booze, drugs, pills, steroids, Jesus (via a local cable access channel), and the Psychic Friends Network. Whenever I was downtown, I’d scan the rooftops for gargoyles. It got to where whenever I was in the car, I’d drive along and karaoke the dialog from each episode. If my eye caught a frightened look from a pedestrian or a worried cross-glance from another lane - I’d just yell louder. Glaring at them defiantly. What did they know?

Then, one episode I heard it. A new sound. The calm voice of an angel. It reassured me. The voice said “Snippity Snap!” a lot.  It told me to put my pants back on and to go back to work. And so I did. (I’d go on here - but it’s late and this probably wasn’t too funny to begin with).

In closing, please allow me a quick note to the gentleman from Virginia:

Anonymous Right Wing Micro-Anus Guy, I want you to know… that I try. When Lisa and the kids at the school tell me that I’m supposed to control my violent temper, and be passive and nonviolent like they are, I try. I really try. Though when I see this girl… of such a beautiful spirit… so degraded… and this podcaster… that I love… sprawled out by this big ape here… and this little girl, who is so special to us we call her “God’s little gift of sunshine”... and I think of the number of years that she’s going to have to carry in her memory… the savagery of this idiotic moment of yours… I just go BERSERK!

(Sorry, I had to throw something in that would allow me to use the term Micro-Anus, and Billy Jack just felt right - My apologies to Mr. Tom Laughlin).

Aww, I’m digging this NOTLP love-fest.

A few years back my wife and I moved from our home state to the complete opposite side of the country, where we knew nobody.  A couple of years after that I found this podcast made up of a group of friends sitting around in a room talking shit and discussing horror films. Just like I used to do with my friends!  For a couple of hours a week, I can feel like I’m in the room with a bunch of like-minded people who are funny as hell and know a lot about stuff I like.

Last year I met (most of) these people, and found that they were as cool and down-to-earth in person as they are on the show. Sitting in Denny’s at midnight with the NOTLP crew is like being in an episode of the podcast, but with more meat.

So that’s why I like NOTLP - because it feels more like hanging out with friends than listening to the radio.

That’s what she said. Oh snap
But seriously, it was great to meet you and the wife! You guys were great and you witnessed us pretty bitchy. 6 hours of driving topped w/ hunger = cranky me.

I had just bought my ipod and had gone through alot of other podcasts then I found this gem that was reviewing “GingerDead Man” a week after I had just watched it. I listened and was hooked. I now listen to this podcast a couple times a week and each time I hear an episode I find something funny I missed the first time. It gets me through long hours of work.

Everyone brings something to the table that is different and I enjoy that. Keep up the good work and thanks for entertaining me while at work or working out.

I like the sound Erica’s boobs make when she gets too close to the mic. It’s like laying down on a waterbed.

Also, Michael McDonald. I like it when he sings on the podcast, because I’ve been missing him since 1988.

I may be a little delirious right now. Incapable of serious answers.
