Right off the bat,I would like to thank the crew of NOTLP for making the start of my week a frighteningly hilarious one.I’ve been listening for two years now and can’t get enough! A few of months before i discovered this show Itarted a new job cooking at a nursing.I loved the job (still do)But,after awhile it became depressing because the people you become involved with and grow to care for end up dying.Go Figure. Before this i was a pretty happy and fairly funny individual,I think. Anyway,I was really starting to lose my sense of humor and hate the world, but couldnt quit. So one saturday while stealing internet from the local library Searching for podcasts on my PSP I found your show!(probably because your title has the word podcast in it!)Long story short I fell in love. And got a little bit of my sense of humor back one show at a time.
If I’ve learned anything from this show is that sometimes if The monkey that is life is tossing its own fecal matter at you, stand back and say(cue FAith No More!)AHH WHO GIVES A F@#K !!!
your humble servant,
MrPulley
I am pretty lucky to have a large and varied group of friends in my life. Unfortunately, none of them share my love for all things horror. So I was quite the lonely horror geek until I discovered NOTLP. If I can’t sit around and BS about the latest crappy remake or 70’s grindhouse gem in real life, getting to listen in on the NOTLP gang (and the other Popsyndicate shows) every week helps fill that void. I hope that doesn’t sound weird or stalkerish. Plus they are funny as hell and the show is free. It’s pretty much a win/win.
Since some dickhead has been irritating the NOTLP crew (specifically Erica - whom we all love) recently, I think the crew needs to know why people like them. So, I’ll begin the flow (odd choice of words, I know).
I’ve been on holiday…what the hell have I missed?
I love NOTLP because when I first started listening (back in the day) they kept me entertained at work and were company when I was on my own for a while. Now I love them because they’re like old, funny friends who I hear from weekly and give me something to look forward to on a Monday morning! They make me laugh and feel slightly dirty sometimes! Not only all that, but they have created a community right here where us horror fans and NOTLP fans alike can talk about all things horror and anything in between!
NOTLP rules and I think it shows here that the NOTLPers are behind them 100%!
I just want to add to this love-fest and say that you listeners who download our ramblings week after week are just plain awesome. You all share this weird compulsion we have to engage in bizarre and (to an outside party) sometimes unpleasant entertainment and you give us your attention, your thoughts, your opinions and even your money. Without you guys we’d just be talking to ourselves. Thanks for making us feel good about what we’re doing.
There has been so many well thought out and constructed comments that all I can add is that listening to NOTLP makes me feel like I am in the room shooting the shit about movies with friends I grew up with. You guys just have such an easy going style and I love the tangents that you go off on.
OO OO I got one!
I will definitely concur with all the things above but the main reason I love NOTLP is because it reminds me of my old times with friends back in the day. I’m originally from central Illinois but I live in New York City now. It would be virtually impossible for me to get 5 friends to watch the same movie and meet to talk about it for 1-2 hours a week now. With everyone so overly scheduled in NYC, and the train rides taking hours and such tiny cramped apartments it’s really hard to get friends together just to hang out, let alone agree on something to do. Listening to NOTLP makes me remember those times when I could call friends and be all like “whadya doin? Wanna watch a moooooovie?” and they’d come over with chips and beer. Now we have to schedule weeks in advance and we usually have to do “brunch” like we’re freakin’ Carrie Bradshaw or some shiz. I miss watching bad horror movies with a bunch of hilarious friends and ripping into the movie if it sucks or screaming our balls off if it’s terrifying. NOTLP gives me the chance to feel like I’m there again.
Thanks Nottlepuh!
I’ve said it before, but I listen to several podcasts and NOTLP has consistently been my favorite. I like the male to female ratio that brings a balanced voice. Amy and Erica are REAL women! My girlfriend and I often comment to each other about how much we appreciate them.
I love the humor, of course, but I also love the serious side the gang takes when reviewing a movie. You guys get into such great detail and give a lot of food for thought. Blair Witch still sucked though.
You could always spend the day writing NOTLP fan fiction.
Also, have you bought the archive CD? It’s a good way to get your NOTLP fix between episodes. It’s also funny to listen to the breaking news about the upcoming British horror movie, “The Descent.”
I’m so excited about reviewing The Descent when it comes out here in the States. I’m not sure but I think it has a chance to be my pick for best movie of this year, 2006 AD. We’ll find out huh? I just hope they don’t ever try to remake Halloween. But that will never happen, what am I talking about, heheheheh…..
