Hey-ya people out there in forum land! I’ve been having a hankering for a really good scary movie and was wondering if anybody out there could help a girl out. I’m not looking for any torture porn or any of that. Not into Hostel or Saw. Not my thing. Just wanting something legitimately scary. Something to scare the bejesus out of me. Like the time I saw Candyman for the first time, and was scared to go to the bathroom because it had a mirror. Any suggestions?

Alright-here’s one for you. It’s not “jump out and get you scary”, but it is “stay with you for a while and think about it a few days later scary” which was the best part of Candyman anyway (being scared a week later).  It’s called: Tale of Two Sisters. It is South Korean-but it isn’t blood and guts, much more mental than anything. Have fun!

While we’re along the horror line, it’s not scary, but you may be interested in Let The Right One In. It’s a Swedish, geek gets revenge, vampire movie. It’s worth watching.

I do remember really digging Tale of Two Sisters! I got it a few years ago, and I totally agree about the way it kinda sticks with you. Very creepy. I tried to get Bryan and Jay to watch it a few months ago, but I think they both feel asleep so I ended up turning it off. Bunch of light weights, I tell ya… I do need to watch it again though, thanks for reminding me of how cool it is.

I’ve heard a bunch of good things about Let The Right One In, but even after watching the trailer, I just can’t seem to get very excited about it. I’m sure someday I’ll break down and see it, but for some reason, part of me is fighting strongly against it right now.

Well Smurfit anyway! I thought I could come up with SOMETHING you hadn’t seen. I guess ya’ll are just more geeks than I.

Hmmm…let’s go more mainstream. I remember hearing you were disappointed in Quaratine a few weeks ago. Perhaps you haven’t seen The Descent yet. Please don’t let the preview fool you, it is shot well. It could’ve been horrible in the wrong hands.

It is one that I would’ve avoided until a friend convinced me to give it a shot. Not perfect, but just in case you overlooked it.

Yeah, Quarantine was a huge disappointment for me. I wanted to like the movie, but it just wasn’t meant to be. I’m still wanting to see the original and see if fairs any better…
But whoohoo, we are on a roll! The Descent was one that Bryan convinced me to watch, and I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked it. I mean, really… 5 hot chicks in a cave, what more could you ask for? But seriously, it did have some tense scenes that were very well done. Very creepy and dark, but not too dark that you have no idea what is going on(one of my many complaints with Quarantine). In the weeks that followed that, we tried a few movies that seemed to try to be going for the same idea, but failed miserably. The Ruins and The Cave. Both sucked beyond words. I just watched the trailer for the upcoming The Descent 2, and I’m still up in the air as to whether it’s going to be awesome, or just disappoint…
