I am pumped! I just picked up a copy from Family Video and paid only $0.54! I love Family Video and if you truly love movies, please support any of your locally owned video stores. If we allow Red Robo vendors and mail delivery companies to monopolize the genre, hard to find gems are going to become even more rare.

Anyway, I remember seeing some but not all of Death Race when I was younger on Cinemax (I think). I was never able to catch the whole movie. I always intended to go back and watch it, but always forgot about it somehow. I’ll be watching tonight—I can’t wait! I don’t know that I even remembered that Frankenstein was Carradine.

Obviously the Meltdown gang would probably rather have you comment during the show rather than on here, but consider this me throwing down the gauntlet… I know there are people listening and reading and I know a good portion of you have better skills than I. So call in and show us what you got! I know the show could be a ton better if there’s so much response that there’s no room for me.

geeks listen to the show, true Geeks write or call in; I’m officially calling you all out. Prove me wrong.

So, I’m one of those jerks that is behind, so I didn’t catch this in time, but I just listened to the episode. Death Race 2000 is easily my favorite Roger Corman car movie. It has been a few years since I have seen it, but the Meltdown coverage brought instant joy.

On Death Race:
I was inspired to hunt down an NES emulator for a Mac (how geeky is that) and find a rom of NES Death Race. In my teenage years, I actually rented this game and Death Race 2000 at the same time more than once. It made for a great combination and dulled the shame of not having a Playstation at the time. Death Race seems like a direct fore-runner to the first GTA and lets you run over & shoot people on an open field with some capture the flag stuff too. You get to tune and upgrade your car and it has a much gore as 8-bits can provide. It is at least worth the download.

On the other Death Race:
I just pretended it had a different title and thought it was OK.
