This week we experiment with the structure of the show slightly, and break it up into two convenient sections. Give it a listen and see if you prefer this version.

This link should take you to our show on iTunes:

And this link will take you to the page where you can download it directly: http://moviemeltdown.libsyn.com

THEN E-MAIL US WITH YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE NEW STRUCTURE OF THE SHOW.

Among other things this week we feature our Sofa Theater review of the new horror/western movie - The Burrowers.  And feature our exclusive (and massively entertaining, I think) interview with J.T. Petty, the director of The Burrowers.

I’m your huckleberry:

Honestly, it makes no difference to me either way; a download is a download.  In fact (to be completely selfish) it may even be more of an inconvenience to download both sections.

Obviously you had a good reason and/or suggestion to try two parts. I’d say accommodating others is a higher priority because I’m gonna listen either way. Therefore, whatever works best to make the listeners happy is the right one for me.

By the way, the J.T. Petty interview was a blast to listen to. He seems like a lot of fun. I’ll be looking up more of his work as a result. Great job!

The new method has it’s pros:

- On could easily listen to it in separate settings w/o having to worry about it getting removed from their Ipod because of my current sync settings.
- It creates a natural break, vs causing a dilemma (that I find myself in a lot!)  : “Should I pause it here… naw… I’ll listen a bit more first… OK, I HAVE to pause it now, but it’s really good RIGHT now!...”
- File size for slower bandwidth fans
- Allows you more creativity in production. Sofa Theater could very easily be it’s own stand-alone show!

and cons:

- Mostly confusion…but all fairly minor…
- I though I accidentally downloaded two of the same show.
THEN
- I though I downloaded a show that had an error and the second one was the fixed version.
- Your first part should have a header letting folks know about the cut off.
- Some Players do not play shows automatically. Taking work gloves off, washing hands to restart a second half could be frustrating.
- Some folks may never get around to playing the second half cause things might will come up.

Hopefully that is some more tangible feedback.

We have mentioned in each new ‘split episode’, that this is the end of the first part and we invite people back to join us in part 2. And I even added my own personal, fun touch with a serial ending. I think it just catches people off guard who listened to the older version. But assuming we continue, people will get used to that.

And to me, it almost DOES make “Sofa Theater” it’s own show. At least it’s own sub-show. Which I think is fun. And so far the numbers have been staying pretty even with people downloading both episodes. Truthfully, with the longer shows you never know how many people actually end up finishing the whole show anyway. This at least gives people the option - ‘Hey, I DO want to hear them talk about that movie.’

I don’t know, it’s still in the working stage. But I have to say, it certainly makes it more manageable from my end. And I’ve had limited feedback, but most people say they’ve liked the new “break”. And truthfully, if you have an iPod - iTunes does all the loading work and you could play them straight through just like the old show. Only people with other MP3 players would have to load in the new show. But it’s just giving you more material throughout the week. I’m even planning some additional segments that can be thrown in there as well, to continue to supply more movie geek material as the week goes on.

It’s just a different approach, and we’re listening to everyone’s thoughts on the process. So keep them coming, and we’ll take it all into account…

to be honest i dont really like it..but the main reason being I listen to the show at work and I usually depend on those long 2 hr shows to get me through the day as opposed to a 55-1 hr episodes which then I have to find something else to listen to..but whatever works better for you guys
