I do have some slightly bad news about future adaptations.  It looks like Stephen King may be out.  I emailed his “people” (I’m sure some intern at stephenking.com) about the “dollar baby” rights to his stories that are available for that.  I was told that, because it is in audio format and for web distribution it there would be issues with it I guess cutting into his other audio stuff that’s out there and all bought and paid for, rights-wise.  So, I could take a chance at a cease and desist and still adapt one of them, rights free and liable, (and by the way the Jaunt WOULD be great for that) OR I can not.  For now I’ll probably not and we’ll go through our anthologies looking for good (I PROMISE only good) stories that are most likely public domain or so obscure that it won’t matter anyway.  I really wanted to try my hand at adapting Stephen King though.  After all, I AM his number one fan…mwuah mwuah mwuahhhh…but no, he is my one of my heroes so…*sighs* ah well.

Damn the man!(not Stephen King, just the man) I’d love to hear The Jaunt, but I understand.  I look forward to whichever stories ya’ll decide to go with.

I could nitpick some criticisms, but I will not, because I truly enjoyed every aspect of this little venture.  If yall keep doing this, any criticism I might have will disappear with each subsequent episode, I am sure.  That said, while I loved the radio play, I don’t think Lovecraft is for me.  The story, for me, was less interesting to me than the overall execution was.  Cool music, good acting all around and just enough foley work to suck me into the scenes.

Outstanding job, overall and whatever the next one is, I can’t wait to hear it.

I would seriously love a campy, mocking radio play of LKH’s tripe.  Imagine everyone reading the characters with over-the-top sultry voices, even when they are having the most mundane conversations.  It would be hilarious.

I agree!  Just a snippet would be awesome.

You might want to look at Kealan Patrick Burke for an adaptation. He’s a young horror writer, with some really cool short stories. “Underneath” and “Tonight the Moon is Ours” are two that would work well on audio, I think. As far as I know, there aren’t any audiobook recordings of his stuff, and it seems like he’s willing to work with adaptors (there’s a neat short film of his story “Peekers” that’s floating around out there), so there might not be the legal problems of doing a King story. He’s still working his way up, so you can most likely get a hold of him directly instead of communicating through representation (we wrote back and forth a few times after I reviewed his latest story collection, and he seems like a nice guy).
