I’m sorry, but I love it when NotLP reviews shitty movies for the main feature. Takes me back to the days of Star Crystal and Octopus. This episode might be one of my favorites of the year.

I really f***ing hated the way the kid in this movie called his sister’s tits “boomies”...isn’t boobies already a childish enough word that we need to change one letter in it to make it slightly more childish?  I realize that this is probably one of the least notice-able faults of this film but it chafes my taint because what reason could the writer possibly have for making him say that?  It’s awful, it sounds awful.  If I was the director, shooting that scene or watching the daily, the moment I heard the word “boomies” come burbling out of that little grumpkin’s mouth I’d be like…“Ahhhh, you know what?  That makes you sound like you’re “group home” special.  Let’s just go ahead and say boobies.  That’s a silly enough word to get the point across.”

Boomies?  BOOMIES

Fail.

Oh, and if the point of that was to make the kid seem like he’s “group home” special to further the idea of his being displaced from reality it still is just too cringe-worthy of a substitute word to use.  Nope.  Nope, not boomies.  F**k boomies and f**K people who use that term.

I watched Satan’s Helper when it first came out on DVD and could not stand it. I had forgotten much of it but hearing the review brought back a lot surpressed memories. Ugh.

barb and I loved it.  it’s just so bizzarre in every single, possible way.  Plus it’s the director of Just Before Dawn.

Dang y’all, I was really surprised at the venom you spewed against Satan’s Little Helper. There was some serious Fear of Clowns/Live Feed anger going on in this episode. I’ll admit I’ve never sat down and watched this entire movie in one sitting, but there was some network a few years ago that was playing it every 5 minutes during October, so every once in a while I’d sit down and watch part of it. I’m sure I’ve seen the whole thing, but just in bits and pieces here and there. Maybe that method of viewing doesn’t fully expose the film’s faults, but I thought it was a fun and silly Halloween movie. I thought the ridiculousness of it all was intentional, and had a great time with it.

Freddy, you didn’t say much during the review. Admit it…you liked it, didn’t ya?

Okay, I just saw Satan’s Little Helper. I don’t even know if I liked it or not. The premise and story are fantastic, but the execution… man, just f**king awful.

Some day you have to review the Ghost and Mr. Chicken. I have seen that movie a hundred times. “That a boy Luther!”

I can’t remember, did we mention that that was one of our possible upcoming reviews?  I LOVE that movie, me and my Dad used to watch it all the time.  It’s even the teeniest bit creepy, how the blood won’t wash off of the organ and the shears get stabbed in the painting and it bleeds.  I like that movie.

DON KNOTTS!!!  YEAH! (cue Chiseck being Don Knotts)

Yeah, I think Freddie mentioned it was between Satan’s Helper or the Ghost and Mr. Chicken. Me and my Dad used to watch it all the time too, that is why it has always been one of my favorites. Seemed like it was constantly on TBS or cable somewhere and me, my parents, and my 2 older brothers would sit around and watch it.

Now before you say, wow, what a wholesome family. My Dad would often call me down from doing homework to watch Missing In Action 2 (especially the rat scene) and any Charles Bronson movie. You can blame him for my poor education. :) I learned a life lesson that no school could teach, don’t mess with anyone related to Charles Bronson.

Who needs an education when you’ve got a dad who appreciates good cinema?  Lol, similarly my dad took me out of school to take me to see “Godzilla 1985” (the BEST Godzilla movie after the original) and “Harry and the Hendersons”.  He knew what was really important.

Did “Godzilla 1985” in the theatre start out with the animated short “Bambi Vs. Godzilla”? The VHS version had it. Now, that piece of cinema gold can be found on YouTube.

Yes, PJ, it did indeed have “Bambi VS. Godzilla as an opening short.  Very amusing.  Godzilla 1985 is my favorite Godzilla movie.  They tried to make Godzilla b.a. again and scary.  It’s less silly than the later Toho productions (even though the silly is definitely part of the fun) and way better than the Roland Emmerich abortion with Matthew Broderick (although it’s weird; I hate the American version, but I’ll still watch it.  Isn’t that strange?  I don’t like it but I enjoy it…it’s a fine line).

I agree Kelley. Godzilla 1985 was the best. I grew up watching Godzilla, Mothra, Ghidra, Rhodan, MechaGodzilla, etc. I loved those movies. The Matthew Broderick version? I can’t get into it. I guess it doesn’t seem right to Godzilla to be anything but a guy in a giant rubber suit.
