Hey, y’all, I am writing a paper about horror for school and need help generating demographic information and just general research into horror’s audience.  I was wondering if I could get anybody on here to fill out a short survey for me to use in my research.  I would appreciate any help I can get, thanks!

- Lapsed-Catholic turned Lutheran
- Liberal Conservative
- <10, horror comics, kid-friendly horror, and by 10 I was a hard core junkie
- escapist entertainment
- yes, as horror is the only genre that I have podcasts for…
- human nature and reactions to situations which most people are ill prepared
- apocalyptic horror (zombies being in there somewhere…)
-  films, novels, podcasts, documentaries on the genre, etc.
- MOZ of course…
- The Long Walk by Stephen King
- I hate “gorn”... it’s like a script riddled with cursing: ultra violence in horror is filler, addressing an inadequate story/script/acting/etc. and an attempt to falsify true horror.

-Education: BS in Elementary Education (not practicing)
-Religious Beliefs: Christian, but have my own views on how to “worship”
-Political Views: Vote based on the issues…it’s all messed up anyway
-How old were you when you first got into horror: 6ish
-Is horror your favorite genre: sure is
-What scares you the most in the world: clowns/spiders in shower & thought of being buried/burnt alive
-Why horror? What appeals to you about horror over other genres: I’m not an adrenaline junkie, but I like being scared (haven’t found a movie that scares me in a while, but…) I always loved watching how horror movies were made when I was a child and thus they became not scary to me.  I like the fighting for your life from some terrifying monster etc
-Favorite sub-genres of horror: vampire/zombie and slasher
-What forms of horror do you enjoy (i.e., films, comics, novels, blogs/reviews sites, podcasts, non-ficition/reference, etc): films, novels, poscasts and occasional blog
-What are some horror related sites that you frequent?: MOZ, ZedWord Zombie Blog, Opera Buffo (friend and horror writer)  & Fangoria
-Favorite horror story: Dracula…it’s such a classic
-Your feelings on violence in horror: Doesn’t need to be excessive (be realistic), but it is needed.

-Do you have children: an 18 year old girl
-Education: Some, not enough
-Religious Beliefs: I have faith, but not in organized religion
-Political Views: 2nd Amendment supporter, without the bible thumping
-How old were you when you first got into horror:  about 5
-Is horror your favorite genre: yes
-What scares you the most in the world: other than snakes, not much
-Why horror? What appeals to you about horror over other genres: It’s a total escape from reality
-Favorite sub-genres of horror: Zombies
-What forms of horror do you enjoy (i.e., films, comics, novels, blogs/reviews sites, podcasts, non-ficition/reference, etc):  pretty much everything you have listed there
-What are some horror related sites that you frequent?: I am all over the board, no place in particular
-Favorite horror story: Dawn of the Dead 78 ranks up there pretty high…anything with the dead rising
-Your feelings on violence in horror: I don’t buy into the “it’s corrupting our kids” and crap like that. That stuff starts at home with the parents. If the parents fail to be parents then the kids will fail at being humans. Violence in horror is a necessity, without it, there is little to no horror.

-How old were you when you first got into horror: 15 to 16
-Is horror your favorite genre: Yes-ish Zombies are my favorite genre (don’t consider them part of the Horror genre)
-What scares you the most in the world: Those spikes restaurants use to keep track of receipts, they creep me out.
-Why horror? What appeals to you about horror over other genres: The possibility for great storytelling.
-Favorite sub-genres of horror: Zombies
-What forms of horror do you enjoy (i.e., films, comics, novels, blogs/reviews sites, podcasts, non-ficition/reference, etc): Movie’s mostly, go for more sci-fi in other categories. It’s harder to find a good zombie book, comic ect.
-What are some horror related sites that you frequent?: MOZ, Zed Word
-Favorite horror story: Hmmmm, well WWZ is probably the book I have revisited the most, as for movies, The Romero series defiantly and the you can’t go wrong with the Walking Dead for comics.
-Your feelings on violence in horror: Don’t really care for violence for violence sake, it’s best when used to progress the story.

-What scares you the most in the world: snakes and needles (but not tattoo needles…)
-Why horror? What appeals to you about horror over other genres: I enjoy being scared. Nothing can top being creeped out by a movie. That pivotal moment when goose bumps rise up on your arm, and you have to look at the windows to make sure that no one is looking back in at you.
-Favorite sub-genres of horror: Zombies
-What forms of horror do you enjoy (i.e., films, comics, novels, blogs/reviews sites, podcasts, non-ficition/reference, etc): Podcasts, films, and novels
-What are some horror related sites that you frequent?: NOTLP, MOZ
-Favorite horror story: Recent books: WWZ. Overall: Anything by E. A. Poe.
-Your feelings on violence in horror: It has it’s place. It is necessary for some movies. Problem is that is used too much in movies anymore. Movies seem to be focused on the gore rather than on the story line.
