I hated Hatchet. HARDCORE. It’s horrible slasher and I thought it was directed like ass. A friend of mine said, if you have to call it old school American horror, it’s not. So true.
But, I’ve liked the shorts he’s made and he produced Grace which I adored (kind of a creepy word for it), so all can’t be bad right? I’m really looking forward to this.
Anyone seen Spiral? I’ve got a copy, but have yet to watch. Any good?
Not shocking that it’s better than Hatchet, because that movie is ass. But better than Grace huh? Hmmmmmmm. I loved Grace. If it weren’t for Inside, it would have been the favorite horror of 2008 for me.
Zach Levi in Spiral?
I’ll give it a go then, but be prepared for my wrath (it’s about 3 inches) if you have failed me Doctor!!!
I did not like Grace. I thought he seemed unsure what direction to take it in throughout the middle. I found the characters unlikable. But mostly I was just pissed off at the anti medicine tone and depiction of physicians. That’s my own personal hangup though.
I think on retrospect that Spiral was similar in one way. I won’t get into it now for risk of spoiling anything. But somehow it worked for me very well.
I enjoyed Hatchet quite a bit - had a handful of very effective kill scenes and a fresh, interesting new slasher, am lookin forward to the sequel - but it was hardly the second coming, as some people had claimed it to be. Grace can go suck my balls - obnoxious, empty pile o’ dung that it was and I have not seen Spiral yet. However, I WILL be seeing Frozen next month, something that I’m really looking forward to. Love the premise and the trailer was very cool. Will be seeing it at a horror fest, along with some vintage Fulci, A Lizard in a Woman’s Skin, Splice, 2001 Maniacs 2 and (f.u.c.k yes!) REC 2!!!!!
Hatchet brought zero to the table in terms of creativity, as far as I am concerned. Spiral, though, I thought was a damn fine little flick. I am looking forward to Frozen because the plot actually sounds intriguing. I can honestly say I’ve never seen this covered in a film and it’s a phobia I can relate to. As long as a big retarded Abominable Snowman doesnt show up in the 3rd act, I think I’ll like Frozen.
They indeed have given us some “wonderful” Yeti films…..
The way I see it is…if Green added a Yeti it couldnt hurt him, Hatchet was soooo over-rated that I find myself wishing a Yeti would have attacked Green with a silver dildo and a cast iron skillet…..
