For those who haven’t discovered it yet and can’t wait until March 14th to get their copy, here Dark Horse is allowing us to view the frist 6 pages of the Buffy comic…
My question is, what’s with Buffy’s shirt? Is that from Serenity? It looks a lot like the movie logo. Maybe its just me.
Good catch, Chris! It’s not at all just you. It took a little searching, but I found a good image of the Serenity logo characters, on the back of a
Jayne t-shirt. They are, in fact, a match.
Loved that it was a Buffy double that’s dating The Immortal. They suggest that there’s a joke in there—I’m guessing that it’s a reference to the live-action episode of The Tick, where Captain Liberty kills The Immortal by having sex with him.
And loved the Xander line: “But when duty calls… you don’t exactly get to screen.”

Or maybe that both Darla and Drusilla slept with the Immortal, much to the anger of Angel and Spike.
I was unsure of this Season 8 comic. Truth is, I was an on-again, off-again Buffy fan. I started watching in Season 5—my then boyfriend was a HUGE Buffy nut. Me? I liked Glory* better! :) But did enjoy the show and would catch it now and then. I am very intrigued by the story they are setting up. Good stuff, and I like the ties to the rest of the Buffiverse they’ve dropped. I think I’ll add this to my pull list.
*To me, anyone who had the power to beat the hell out of you, but would pardon you if you replied “no” to “Do these shoes make my ankles look fat?“is a fantastic villain.

Could be that; I assumed that it was Andrew’s geek-dom coming out, but you’re right, it could just be him getting an indirect jab in at Angel and Spike.
Hope we get to see Spike in the series; my sister and I were trading fangasms over him just a few days ago.
Weird. Buffy’s all hi-tech now. It looks awesome though.
By the way, the Immortal was in an Angel episode in the last season. Spike and Angel went to Rome cause found out that Buffy was dating the Immortal. It was a hilarious episode and it involved Spike and Angel riding on a Vespa together. I’ve even provided a visual aid.
