Ok the next comic book movie is upon us washing the stinking taint of Ghost Rider off of fans.  300 is amazingly good.  It’s not perfect but a solid 4/5.  It could use a little more depth but overall, visually stunning.

I’m hopeful.  The battle of Thermopylae is a great story; I just hope it doesn’t get consumed by the visuals.

I haven’t seen it yet.

My inner-dork went ahead and bought the soundtrack… which rocks.

If you’ve missed the conversation on the CBQ section, it’s a gay man’s T&A film.

my punishment for making my wife sit thru 300 was being forced to see Because I Told You So afterwards…I found myself wishing to be one of the Persians used to build the wall at more than a few moments during the movie.

is it just me or did Sean Connery make a few guest appearances as the king.

I thought this is very interesting and didn’t think about the repercussions of the film.

Meh.  This isn’t psychological warfare against Iran.  The only affect this movie is supposed to hae is getting us to buy the action figures, spend money on popcorn, get the dvd so we can pause on the nude scenes.

Then again, maybe it is psychological warfare. :-)

Okay, not wanting to piss in the cereal of the Iranian people but get over yourself. Maybe this could be some grand conspiracy by Hollywood and the US Government to recruit more soldiers and disparage Iran…...BUTTTTTTTT, ask the average person on the streets of America where Persia is and they cannot tell you. I have a pretty good handle on geography and a decent handle on history but until I heard about this outcry I really did not relate this movie to Iran in any way shape or form.

This of course totally ignores the fact that Frank Miller completed his graphic novel that the film is based on before 911…..this was completed and published in ‘99. Sounds a little like the uproar for V for Vendetta…...there was a big outcry about it being a criticism of the Amecian government again, keeping in mind the comic was written in the early eighties, by and english writer, and set in bloody England.

The Persians got their asses handed to them by the Greeks, and at more places then just Thermopylae.  The Greco-Persian Wars were just a prelude to Persia’s ultimate destruction at the hands of the Greeks under Alexander the Great.

Suck it, Iran!
