What would your line-up of the Avengers be.  Basically, who would be there, why would they be there and who would they be facing.

I would go with the traditional Avengers roster.  Captain America, Iron Man, Scarlett Witch, Vision, Hawkeye, Wasp and Thor.  If I had to remake the team for the modern world, I would keep Cap.  Maybe Iron Man.  Jeez jarder than I thought.  Maybe rescue some of the X-Men from the crappy X titles.

I would go with since Scarlet Witch will take years to recover from her well characterized mental issues by Bendis (sarcasm, I was disgusted as someone who is a psychology major that someone mental illness was even given the option to be euthanized like an animal in House of M)
My line-up would be:
Captain America
Wasp
Vision
Hawkeye
Monica Rambeau
Hellcat
Yellowjacket

Hmmmm, I think I would go with:

Captain America
She-Hulk
Tigra
Monica Rambeau
Black Widow
Falcon
Vision
Ms. Marvel

Just cuz I like ‘em.

I have a sort of dream team but before I post about them I’m trying to come up with a story for my 70’s line-up.  It’s kinda strange because most of these characters are in the New Avengers.  I’m thinking about how they were back in the day when they were all up and coming or at the height of their popularity.  I’m also trying to find a place in time were the actual team was not around and one mainstay needed a bunch of recruits to handle a situation

Hawkeye (leader)
Iron Fist
Power Man (yellow blouse wearin’ Luke Cage )
Moon Knight
Captain Mar-Vell
Spider-Woman
Ms. Marvel (original outfit not the the lightning bolt thong)

One mission… one time

The team I’d like to assembel is coming later.  I’m working out some kinks.

I’ve been discussing this at work. So here is my own and my colleague’s teams.

My team:
Wonder Man - Team leader
Dr Strange - for his magick arts and healing skills
Ms Marvel - for flight and attacks
Arachnid - for the tension with Ms Marvel and because I like her
Surge - for super speed on account of my first choice Quicksilver being ‘unreliable’
Smart Hulk - this is a fantasy team and I need a science guy
Misty Knight - for kung fu action and kick ass boots.

Peter’s team:
Vision
She-Hulk
Dr Strange
Thor
Ronin
Blink

I’m just going with the Young Avengers team, since (a) I like them, (b) I want them back, and (c) their barely figuring it out, flying by the seat of the pants style reminds me of the original Avengers, who were older but not really much more experienced.

As to who they’d be facing: the Young Masters of Evil, of course!  Or any animal-themed group of heroes from any universe (Thundercats, the cast of Cats, whoever), cause those just irritate me.

HTBC- I think the Young Masters of Evil is one of the plotlines of Heinberg’s 2nd season of YA along with some Wanda (SW) stuff. Which I am psyched for. I love YA, especially Wiccan. I only wish Wiccan was around when I was a kid, I would have lived vicariously through him in my fantasy world instead of some of the other heroes. I also think Cheung’s art makes Billy so adorable.

Yea, I’d heard that rumor; that’s pretty much why they came to mind.

YA is really what got me back into comics, and I’m seriously jonesing for the mythical second season.  And, yea, Wiccan/Billy is totally my favorite.  I like Teddy’s powers better, but he spends too much time as Hulkling, and Hulkling really isn’t my type.  Whereas Billy is a fellow skinny white fanboy, and is drawn just the right way to bring out all the warm fuzzy romantic memories of my youth.  (My fictionalized youth, on the other world where gay kids in Texas in the 70s date and go to proms, that is.)

Marvel Boy’s Team:

Scarlet Witch - leader, because she’s magically not crazy anymore.  We think.
Quicksilver - lap dog. Wanda can’t get rid of him.  Hella triflin.
Vision - The new Young Avengers Vision.  That cougar Wanda is always all over him.
Ms. Marvel - “leader my ass, this bitch is crazy!” She be the real leader, though.
Iceman - “We’re the FREAKIN Avengers, MAN!”
Hank Pym - because his yellowjacket costume is just the gayiest.
Wasp - “I tripped and fell and my eye landed on the door knob! I swear!!”

Special Appearances by: Magneto, Nick Fury, Dr. Strange.

Their missions would be going up against the crack houses and meth labs of the suburbs.  And eventually overthrow the Japanese mafia.  But this all happens before their series is canceled.  And only after five issues.
