My absolutely apeshit insane recent favorite was Flash #9, the one before last and the beginning of the Guggenheim run.  It had everything I could have asked for in a story, told it well, and completely summarized the Bart Allen character and the start of his new life.  It gave just enough backstory to get you up to speed, without bogging down in exposition, still fit in plenty of action, and had the most amazing art, where the Flash actually blurred as he moved, like an out of focus image, instead of just having a red-colored wake following him around.  I think that was the single best issue I’ve read since I really got back into comics, and it reminded me of everything I ever loved about the genre.

Damn, there I go again.  Where’s my towel…

Regarding the villain you mentioned in your fangasm space, I was told his true identity.  I haven’t read the issue yet, so I don’t know what clues were given(or if his identity was really revealed), but I’m so stoked for this.  All I can say is he is supposed to be #4 of 8.

I have to say, as on the fence as I’ve been about Meltzer’s run, this one cemented it as a must read for me.  One big squirt of DNA from beginning to end.  Fave moments :

1. The Hall of Justice!  Right the frak on!
2. “If he were sentimental, he would’ve given us the penny.”
3. “If you can’t stand the heat.”
4. “That’s a dangerous room.”
5. The 3 page fold-out centerfold!  Awesome!
6. Next issue…

Just a total blast from start to finish.  And lest this turn into a JLA wankfest, there were a few other titles that elicited gasps and squeals this week:

1. 52 - Renee finally wears the mask.  Such a wonderful arc with this character, from self-loathing loser to self-confident badass.  And I love DC even more for taking a traditionally male character and letting an Hispanic lesbian take it out for a spin.  This is so much more important to me as a comic book queer than Batwoman.  I got chills when she donned the mask (“Good question!”), and I want more.  Now!

2. Flash #10 - If the rest of Guggenheim’s run is going to be this fun, sign me up now.  Totally fun, taps into the legacy of the character without wallowing in it and making it inaccessible to new readers.  And the last page?  Fun!

That is the greatest line in this whole thread.
