It’s apparently official now.  This is going to make her appearance at CAPE all the more interesting…

Gail’s deserved WW for a long time now.  DC has some really great talent but I’ve been waiting for her to get this spot forever.  I’m really excited.

I was a little jealous when I heard the news.  It would have been cool to have a Cape exclusive, but I agree this is going to make the event all the more interesting.

They haven’t announced the artist yet?  Maybe it’ll be Greg land and they’ll just cancel each other out.

Let’s spin this into a fantasy Gail and artist thread.  Who’s art would do her writing justice?

Yay!  Finally!  Now that they’ve nailed down a writer who can deliver, maybe an artist who can’t?  Brian Hitch anybody?

Okay, just read the article, and you can feel the love she has for this project radiating in every word.  I love the fact that she sees WW as the most powerful warrior in the DCU.  I’m so freaking excited!  Now, maybe I’ll stick with the Picoult run which, two issues in, feels a little disjointed and decidedly NOT WW.  I think Gail’s gonna make WW something it hasn’t been in, oh, ever, fun!  Come on, punching a monkey off a waterfall?  Bring it!  Now!  As to the mystery artist?  She says it’s in the number one spot as far as dream artists, and that says one of two names.  The first, Adam Hughes.  But he’s already knee deep in Ultimate… er… All-Star WW, so I think we can count that one out.  However, could we see the return of Perez?  Gail and George would kick major ass on this.  I’d love to see Gail and Phil on it, and that would make for some great episodes of He’s Her Gay, but I can’t see Phil relinquishing control.  So, George?  Who do you guys think she means?

Loved the newsacrappa interview; she’s got so much honest enthusiasm that comes through about the project, it’s infectious.  Talent + enthusiasm is going to be a hard mix to avoid… I’m in!

That would have been cool, but announcing it NOW, will actually increase the number of people who will go to CAPE.

Glad to hear this too, too bad it means leaving Birds.  It would be SOOOO great if the artist could be Phil (and funny considering the thread here).
But he’s working on SPIDER-MAN next.

This is the best news EVA’!

Though, I must say, I am not fan of Phil Jiminez’s WW. He’s a great, amazing talent, for sure…maybe it was his writing that tainted his art? There’s something about the way he drew WW and other women during his run—his faces were too square, there were odd moments. I’d love to have the Dodsons stay or to have Gail reuniite with Ed Benes (as long as he watches the boob and crotch shots).

didn’t he just sign a Marvel exclusive or was i imagining that?

i’d be happy if the Dodsons stayed on.  it’s a bit cheese-cakey but i was liking those first few issues.

As much as I am anti-WW, it’s an Iconic character that deserves proper treatment.  Gail can deliver that and WANTS to be there.  It’s great news for the book and for the fans.  The dodson’s added something visually that worked for the direction the character was moving in.  it would be great to have them on board so long as they can work well with Gail.  The last thing this book needs it to have anything “phoned in” because poeple will feel it at this point.

Bryan Hitch?!  You really only want to read one issue a year don’t you.  LOL!

I think the thing i like most about Gail is that she just seems like a really cool, fun person.  It makes me like her work even more.

I’m jealous of all you queers who will get to hang out with her at CAPE.  I sooooo want to be her gay!  I may just have to scratch that Jiminez b*tch’s eyes out.

Regardless of how the 2007 Queeries turn out, I think Gail has just swept the awards for 2008!  :)

Why the anti?  While, as I’ve said, I’ve never been particularly attracted to the character, I’m curious about what would make you feel negatively rather than neutral….

The first name that jumped into my head was Adam Hughes.
