Shawn, the naughty kitty of Evil Squirrel, only had enough copies of WWIII for people who ordered in advance, otherwise I would have.

I’m assuming almost everybody read Justice League.  Did y’all love it as much as I did?

It was really cool to see their JLA/JSA crossover harkening back to the first meeting of the JLA/JSA that I remember from my childhood (the first I remember… there were earlier ones).  I was reading this issue, thinking—wait a minute… I remember this story!  I’ll let Wikipedia explain, from the article on the Seven Soldiers of Victory:

The team was resurrected in the seventies in Justice League of America #100-102. During the celebration of the 100th meeting of the JLA, the team was summoned to Earth-Two by the Justice Society of America, where a giant ethereal hand controlled by the Iron Hand threatened to destroy their world. The only way to stop the hand was to find the legendary Seven Soldiers of Victory, who defeated a similar menace in the form of the Nebula Man many years previously, though at the seeming cost of their existences, since no one could remember who they were. An unearthly Oracle revealed to the JLA and the JSA that the Seven Soldiers had been scattered through time, and the multitude of heroes were sent back to find them.

Very Cool!  I can’t wait to see if there are any other similarities in how the story plays out.

52
JLA
Brave & Bold - I love me some Perez!
Manhunter
Mighty Avengers
X-men

I didn’t buy the 52 tie-ins because i realized i really don’t care about any of those OYL plot holes anymore.  plus i think it’s kind of crappy of them to try to sneak 4 more issues into the series.

Well, my draw yesterday was:
52
Brave & Bold
Justice League of America
Manhunter
Nightwing Annual
Superman/Batman
Greatest Wonder Woman Stories Ever Told
the WW3 books
Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes II
Mighty Avengers
Ultimate X-Men
X-Men

Due to other stuff happening I got through half the stack and half of the WW3 books. My favorite book of the week is a toss up. I loved Justice League of America, as Eric did, for the fangasms HowTao posted. Yet I also LOVED the Nightwing Annual.

The Dick Grayson that emerges from that I want to see as Babs does. The story was romantic (awwww…), showed their relationship (Dick and Babs) through time, had Babs in the Batgirl outfit (YEAH!), and was one of the best Nightwing stories I have read in a long time. I want me some more of this DICK!

I am going to pick up another annual for Marc to sign at CAPE and tell him how much I loved this book!

Now that’s a DICK i can get behind.

It was really great it was the one reason why i’ve been disappointed in Nightwing because I wanted this thread resolved.  I do think a decision needs to be made on Nightwing though.  They need to eith put him on one path or another.  I’m still confused to see him in Outsiders given their set-up and then seeing him in his solo stuff in NYC.  i think it almost would be a better idea just to throw him in Europe for awhile as he discovers his own path.  Then have Roy with the Outsiders.

Eric, if you haven’t scouted out Brainstorm or Chi Comics, Graham Cracker has loads of WWIII.

My picks this week:

Anita Blake #6
Girls #24 (last one and it BLEW!!!)
X-Men #198
JLA #8
Birds of Prey #105

and then a last minute decision to pick up Welcome to Tranquility #1

The only one I’ve read so far is Girls…ugh.  X-Men I flipped through and it looks just as dull as before but loving the art.

What’s Anita Blake?  It’s not a teen sleuth, is it?

And I just recently read the first two trades of Girls and LOVED them—can’t wait to pick up the third.  Shawn, the Evil Squirrel naughty kitty said that it goes downhill in either the 3rd or 4th trade, he couldn’t remember.  But the first two were so good that I’m reserving judgment.

Anita Blake is the one written by horror writer Laurrel K Hamilton…one of the Dabel Brothers comics…it’s actually pretty good if you like vampire stories, which I go through phases.  The art gets on my nerves tho.

Girls was good at first…but seriously is a yawn after the first year…so if you don’t wanna spend the $$ on the trade I have them all.  Personally I wouldn’t waste the funds when there’s actual GOOD stuff to buy out there!!

New Week, New Stack
What was in your stack? What did you really like?
52-#51
Wonder Woman #8
Amazons Attack #1
Justice Society of America #5
Justice #11
Fanastic Four #545
X-Men First Class #8
The Sadhu # 7
Red Menace #6
Runaways Digest # 7
and Wizard Magazine

I think the top of my stack this week was Justice Society of America as I am loving the JLA/JSA/LSH crossover.
I really liked WW and Amazons Attack. I am a Wondermo, what can I say. I love me some WW and I am warming to Picoult’s writing.
I am liking Justice and am so jazzed for Justice to go Absolute. As I want Justice to be my first Absolute Edition.
I got into the Runaways late so I like getting the digests for a sitdown or bedtime reading. So, I am psyched to get going with that.

Am seeing 52 through til the end. On this side of things and as quickly as DC is getting the trades out- I should have waited for the trades. And am hooked into Countdown b/c I like a lot of the characters, especially Troia (Donna Troy).

Speaking of Countdown, it looks like something major is going to tie Countdown in with The Flash.  Anyone have any idea what’s supposed to be going on?  I just dropped Flash and now I’m wondering if I should wait it out first.

The last Ex Machina was amazing, as usual.  There’s a massive shocker-slash-cliffhanger in the last panel that will cause me to lose sleep until the next issue comes out.

Can Brian K. Vaughan do anything less than brilliant?  I seriously can’t think of a single thing he’s ever done that hasn’t been stellar.  I’m going to open up a BKV shrine thread right this second.
