The episodes I tivo’ed from yesterday comprised a 2-parter called “Unimatrix zero”, where we learn that Seven of Nine is in yet another way unlike any other Borg drone. Due to a “mutation” that is present in one drone in a million, when sleeping, she is able to transport herself to a magical “matrix” where her hair is braided and she is able to use contractions. She also wears blousy natural fibers there.
Watching Jeri Ryan act is a little bit like being impaled by an ice dildo.
One of the things that keeps me coming back is the fact that Kate Mulgrew is kind of like a drag queen aping Faye Dunaway as Joan Crawford. She had a SCORCHING on-set rivalry with Jeri Ryan, and can’t act beyond her hatred of her—she grits her teeth through every bit of dialogue they have together. It’s not the geek in me that’s attracted to the show, it’s the drama-hungry homo.
My unabashed geekiness means I’ve seen every episode of this crapfest, even siting through the Holo Paddy’s saga even though that is technically considered treason (but I did like the Janeway does Die Hard episode).
Poor Neelix. He’s like the the fifth Golden Girl with last decades wardrobe and gave up facial hair bleaching.
And he usually appears to be dressed in what I can only presume is Dolly Parton’s “Coat of Many Colors”. Apparently they have quilting circles even in the Delta Quadrant.
the weird thing about Voyager (and oh yes - i watched them all) is that the women characters as a rule are all so much more interesting than the men.
Janeway, Seven, Belanna (before they made her “nice”) kept the show afloat. With the exception of the Doctor, the men were all so totally forgettable. Tom is a frat boy, Harry is cute but boring, and Chakotay has all the charisma of a block of cement. What exactly was the point of Chakotay, anyway?
the whole thing was like a protracted love story between Janeway and Seven. how interesting to know they didn’t get along in real life. i want gossipy details!

I remember watching for the first season, maybe even the second one too, but lost interest. I thought the guy who played Tom was supercute. I wanted to like Chakotay but in the end thought he was a “block of cement”. I never knew what it was until Jorge posted. Now I know.
