So last night I saw Quarantine. I thought I would take some time to compare it with REC

REC
Absolutely terrifying “Found Footage” about a news crew in an apartment complex. The final 10 minutes could be the most terrifying stuff ever put on film.

Quarantine
Same plot and Many of the same scares. The film does contain some scares that were not in REC that were amazing. The ending lacks the dark magic that gave me nightmares in REC.

So overall it was a very solid remake. I hear all this pissing and moaning about how much it sucks because all its is is a carbon copy of REC. This is only partially true. The film was about 60% similar to REC and about 40% new stuff. Many of the key scenes are there but many of the new scenes (like I said earlier) are VERY effective. I highly recommend seeing this in theaters.

On to the news….

WB’s “Trick R Treat looks like its headed DTV next halloween. This is a shame because I was really looking forward to this in theaters.

Steven C Miller (Automaton Transfusion) is remaking Motel Hell.

Yours truly will be directing one of those “Found Footage” films titled… Well… “Found Footage”. It’s a take on the Slasher genre using found footage. Don’t worry though. This isint one of those “Made with some friends one night cause we were bored” movies. The story is nearly complete and filming is set to take place for 14 days in December. It will hopefully be complete in time to be submitted to Toronto After Dark, London Fright Fest and San Francisco International Film Festival 2010

Enough self whoring though. I have horror to cover!
