The Midnight Meat Train

“The Midnight Meat Train is one of my new favorite movies. There, I said it. Lionsgate does not know what they are missing by screwing up such a great movie. Being a Clive Barker fan I had to see this.”

The film follows a photographer named Leon Kauffman (Bradley Cooper) as he attempts to land himself an exhibit at a popular art gallery owned by Susan Hoff (Brooke Shields). While trying to capture the “True Essence” of the city, Leon finds himself obsessed over a recent string of disappearances on the subway during the early morning hours. As he gets deeper the blood begins to flow. Can Leon escape the grasp of Mahogany (Vinnie Jones)? Or will he too fall victim to THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN.

What I can say about this film is this. If you like your horror bloody look no further. There are buckets of blood, gauged eyes, ripped hearts and so much more. Although most is done with the help of CG it still looks fairly good.

Vinnie Jones as Mahogany couldn’t have done any better. He was menacing and swift. I know that if I had run into a man like this on the subway I too would be terrified. Everyone else in the film played their parts very well. Bradley Cooper was great as Leon. He brought depth to the film and by the end’s turn of events so much more then that.

The film is directed with extreme greatness by Japanese director Ryuhei Kitamura. The film is dripping with tension that has been missing from so many of todays modern horror films.

I cannot recommend this movie enough. The film premiers on FearNet service for Comcast on Oct 1st.
