It’s a little out of focus and the audio isn’t great but check out the new trailer for The Dark Knight.

Yes, it’s a Dragon Ball Z poster sighting. It looks like they took a pic from car ad and put a big ball in front of it. Four stars (literally)! a href="http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/04/27/dragonball-teaser-poster-updated/">Slashfilm has a quick pic of the japanese version as well. Does every movie need a teaser poster? Can’t they just come out with the regular poster and be done? The Batman teaser poster was the logo. Actually, I think ALL of the Batman teaser posters were just the logo. Event the fan posters of movies are more interesting than the studio versions. Between the Wanted teaser of a intensly photoshopped version of Angelina Jolie, or the incredible let down of Castlevania teaser poster. What is it with teaser posters that just plain suck? I take it back, partially. Some teaser posters rock and need no further help Transformers, Iron Man, Star Trek. Others?

Newsarama, Rotten Tomatoes, and other blogs are all equally excited about the poster of The Dark Knight which hits theaters May 18. Has anyone noticed the similarity between the imagery used in the poster and the famous scene from The Crow? Is this on purpose, coincidence, or is setting buildings on fire in a post 9/11 world the new black? Sometimes a flaming bird is just a flaming bird.

Red pill? Blue pill? Spoon full of sugar? Beca Lewis writes about the parallels and differences between the two movies that cast worlds in both fantasy and reality and examines their hero/villain aspects. Both movies allude to what I call the big R Reality, the Reality behind the façade that we accept as normal life. Neo when down the rabbit hole. Giselle get's shoved down a well. Hugo Weaving looks great in drag. Susan Shardon's character is an evil drag queen. (Via The Disney Blog)

The master of tales and the master of… creepy stop motion things (Neil Gaiman and NBX’s Henry Selick) have teamed up for über-awesomeness. Coraline’s teaser trailer is available at Neil Gaiman’s site here: http://www.neilgaiman.com/p/Cool_Stuff/Video_Clips/Coraline_Teaser But we’ve got the YouTube clip! The only thing the sucks about the teaser is the phrase used at the very start of it, “Next year.” Oh well, there will be plenty of other great movies before then like Justice League, Star Trek…

Who doesn’t remember Night of the Comet? If you dont, shame on you. Rent it now! But while you’re waiting for your blockbuster queue to send you this required viewing, read the interview Socket director Sean Abley did with Kelli Maroney. I know that many folks are crazy for Night of the Comet, but my favorite is Chopping Mall. So I want to ask you about your co-stars in that. Barbara Crampton basically had the same career at the time - soap operas and Roger Corman (or Cormanesque) films. Did you ever look at each other and say “Well, killer robots beats having to memorize ten pages of dialogue every day”? No, we were under the impression that we were making careers in film for ourselves at the time. When we all signed on for Chopping Mall we had no idea that would be the name of it. It was pitched to the actors as ROBOT, with the prestigious Robert Short creating the robots. We had no idea it was a camp-fest at the time. We were young and stupid like that. More awesome goodness here.

Rose McGowan is pairing with Robert Rodriguez again on a new Barbarella? Is she going to be in every Rodriguez in the future? Ugh. She's the new Helena Bonham Carter. I thought the Fonda version stood on its own as a classic. It'll be interesting to see Rodriguez' take on this. Whether or not this is a remake, a sequal, or just a reason to make Duran Duran references, if for no other reason than to bring back fur bikinis I say go for it! The New Face of Barbarella?: In the “could be interesting” category this week, comes news that Rose McGowan has landed the lead role of the infamous space babe Barbarella in a remake due out next year. It seems that director Robert Rodriguez fell head over heels for Rose during the filming of Planet Terror and has asked her to don the space fur, translucent bodices and mile-high hair that Jane Fonda wore back in 1968. With remakes all the rage these days, it was probably inevitable that someone would eventually get to do Barbarella (no pun intended I swear), but is there really a place for this sensual siren in today’s movie theaters? I can’t remember the last time a mainstream movie was released that built its plot around sex. In the original Barbarella, Fonda got her groove on with just about every inhabitant from here to Orion. Although the Fonda version really teased more than shocked, I have a hard time believing that today’s audiences are looking for anything wilder than what Roger Vadim originally delivered. Given the fact that Rodriguez as made one of favorite movies of all time, Desperado, I’ll reserve judgement until we get to see the trailer. Then again, he also made Spy Kids, uugh. I just hope he gets Duran Duran to do the soundtrack. That would be strangely prophetic. (Via gedblog)

This oddly attractive female, known as JennGarn's season five replacement / not really in Alias has been cast as Scarlett in the upcoming GI Joe movie. While this Korean gentleman will play Japanese badass Storm Shadow, I guess because director Stephen Sommers thinks all Asians look the same.
I can't put my finger on it, but this might be one of the most appealing trailers I've seen in some time. The film is Hancock, where Will Smith plays a superhero who doesn't care. Check it out in YouTube crap quality below or head here for much better viewage.
From the Let's-Make-Another-Comedy-About-The-Gay's department, Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor are to star in the Texas-base true love story about a con-man and his lover. That's hilarious! Based on the novel, I Love You Phillip Morris by Steve Mcvicker, Carrey plays time-serving Steven Russell who cons his way out of jail to be with lover Phill Morris, played by McGregor. Or as Rotten Tomatoes puts it, "Hot prison love!" Yes, its a race to the "bottom" for Smokeback Mountain jokes already. The book itself is an over-the-top biography that weaves a sincere tale of love, valour, and yes, compassion. Whether or not this film turns into the next Brokeback Mountain to be snubbed at the Oscars or just another I Now Pronounce Chuck and Larry with law-breaking high-jinx remains to be seen. McGregor Plays Carrey’s Love Interest: Jim Carrey plays a conman in prison who falls in love with another cellmate, Ewan McGregor. His character breaks out of prison four times to be with his lover, McGregor. From what I understand, it is a dark comedy based on a fact-based story from a book called Houston Chronicle by crime reporter Steve McVicker. (Via Screenhead.com - So much in Love with Movies)

I'm not even going to try and show you all the links to find the original source for this. Here's all you need to know: Speed Racer Trailer, Wachowski Brothers, needs more drugs. From the trailer, I can see how one might interpret an obscure Japanese cartoon that still manages to certain pop-culter sub groups as a mega-flourescent techno beat music video with lots of sugar added. But then again, I doubt there is any other way too interpret it. Trailer for Wachowski Brothers' Speed Racer Has CGI, John Goodman and the Creamy Goodness of Christina Ricci [Speed Racer]: "Prepare to trip balls" says sister site Jalopnik about Speed Racer, the Wachowski Brothers movie that comes out next year, and they're not wrong. Judging by the trailer, we're going to be going on an acid-colored trip on May 9, 2008—and the best thing is that Christina Ricci is coming along for the ride. Find out for yourselves here. The new trailer for the mysterious J.J. Abrams film has finally be revealed. And the title for the movie is...Cloverfield. Shocker. With all the hand held camera work, the trailer reminded me of the Blair Witch Project. This is a bootleg of the trailer. Expect a better version later today.
