Midweek Movie Minutiae

A little taste of movie goodies for your consumption... • A special effects technician died during a dummy film run at the UK special effects facility for The Dark Knight. Considering the 4x4 vehicle the technician was in ran into a tree, I'm not ruling out Poison Ivy as a suspect.

• As the new Witch Mountain creeps forward, they have half of the child stars cast. According to the MTV movie blog, AnnaSophia Robb (Because of Winn Dixie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Bridge to Terabithia) will be taking part in the film. The young actress is staying busy with roles in the upcoming films Have Dreams, Will Travel, Ferris Wheel, Jumper, The White Giraffe, and now Witch Mountain. I wonder if they're gonna let her do a song for the movie like she did with Terabithia and Winn Dixie.

• AnnaSophia's co-star in Witch Mountain, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, can be seen at theaters this weekend in The Game Plan. He seems to be taking on roles opposite child actors lately. That's good though. I've had the pleasure of hearing him speak at a conference once, and as tough as he may seem in wrestling and various movie roles, he sounds like someone that's really a kid at heart (and someone who has fun doing what he's doing for a living).

Bridge to Terabithia made me cry. Don't let the fanciful fantasy and imagination stuff fool ya... it's a tearjerker (mostly due to a masterful performance by the previously mentioned AnnaSophia).

• As fellow PopSyndicate Movies blogger Marc pointed out, they're looking at Jessica Biel for Wonder Woman in Justice League. I like Jessica, but I don't think she really fits the Wonder Woman role. It's not an acting thing (when I saw her in Blade: Trinity, I thought she'd make a kickass Huntress). It's mostly a height thing. 5'7.5" doesn't really seem Amazonish. On a side note, my wife wanted to add to the crazy casting silliness I posted for JLA last week. She thinks Neil Patrick Harris would make a good Flash. It's odd that she mentioned that because I just noticed he's doing the voice for the Flash in Justice League: New Frontier. She also threw out the name Lucy Lawless for Wonder Woman and guess who's voicing WW in that animated film? No, my wife doesn't follow this stuff as closely as I do. And yes, my wife's scary sometimes.
