Even though psychic Sherry Moore has been cerebrally blind since childhood, she can visual the last memories of a dead person’s life by touching their hand. This gift makes her a valuable asset in solving crimes.

While working on a case to determine the deaths of several people in New Mexico, Sherry’s life is drastically changed when she is exposed to deadly radioactive cesium 137. Frightened by the possible threat of cancer, Sherry returns to her home in Philadelphia for tests and treatment.

Dr. Salix, who has worked with Sherry for years to understand her invaluable, controversial gift, calls upon her to touch the hand of Thomas Monohan, an 80-year-old man who has lingered in a vegetative state in an institution for sixty years. Distinct and horrifying images from the elderly man’s memory flood Sherry’s thoughts. When she wakes after the alarming episode, her sight has returned.

Struggling to function in an unfamiliar world, Sherry tries to understand how this elderly man enabled her to regain her sight. With the help of her friend, the retired Admiral Brigham, Sherry learns that Private Monohan, who had been declared dead in Korea in 1950, was found incoherent and wandering in the woods after escaping from an institution. Within a short time, the guard who found Monohan apparently committed suicide.

Sherry begins to untangle Monohan’s history and uncovers a highly-classified project involving the government and the pharmaceutical giant Case & Kimble. Unproven rumors regarding how Case built his multi-billion dollar empire had circulated for years and Case still stops at nothing to maintain his prominence and preserve his empire.

Sherry discovers that Monohan’s memories center around a secret military base in New York where Case had tested a secret weapon on humans. Case enlists his stepson, Troy Weir, a handsome sociopath, to dispose of Sherry. Weir also desires to protect the Case legacy, but first intends to satisfy his own passion with a bit of seduction and torture.

Dark secrets in the pharmaceutical trade are exposed as Sherry fights to uncover corruption and find justice for those troops wronged by a government eager to gain an edge over their enemies.

George Shuman doesn’t disappoint in this fourth in the series. A riveting story with great twists.

Producer/songwriter/musician Quincy Jones has had a long and illustrious career, churning out hits in form or another for a multitude of people over the past few decades. In 2008 Montreux founder Claude Nobs, along with keyboardist Greg Phillinganes, put together a birthday party celebration like no other for Quincy’s 75th Birthday Celebration Live at Montreux.

This 2-DVD or Blu-Ray collection has nearly two-and-a-half hours of music featuring Phillinganes and The Montreux House Band, which consists of David Delhomme, Paul Jackson, Jr., Nathan East, John Robinson & Paulino da Costa. Pepe Lienhard conducts The Swiss Army Big Band alongside the house band. Then there are the guest musicians such as Lee Ritenour, Herbie Hancock, Joe Sample, Toots Thielmans, Billy Cobham.

In addition to the musicians, there is a long host of singers such as Mick Hucknall from Simply Red, Chaka Khan, Petula Clark, Patti Austin, James Moody, Nana Mouskouri, Ledisi and Al Jarreau doing some amazing things with his voice and a handful of others. The show is almost stolen, though, by the a cappella singers/music impersonators Naturally 7. Even the other guests were watching in awe at the performance this talented group of young men dedicated to Quincy as he sat in the front row of the house. They deserve the standing ovation that they were given.

Disc 2 also includes a thirty minute behind-the-scenes of the concert, the arrival party in Montreux and a few splendid images of the famous city located on Lake Geneva just below the towering Alps. The party, given at Nobs’ chalet, is a veritable “who’s who” and makes you wish you were there for the party, for the chalet and for the view all at once.

The discs are presented in widescreen with audio options in DTS Digital Surround, Dolby Surround 5.1 and PCM Stereo for being to hear one of the most wonderful and talent-filled concerts of a lifetime. There is also a really nice color booklet, nearly fifty pages in length, on the inside with lots of images and a set of liner notes on each page to identify the musicians and singers for each song. The last page states that “ALL profits from this DVD will got to the Quincy Jones Foundation to support and promote initiatives around the world that contribute to the health, well-being and dignity of children. Its mission is to give young people a voice to inspire and empower them to live to their fullest potential.”

The only downside is the packaging, for the DVD, at least. Instead of a hard shell it’s in a soft case. The weight of the disc and booklet pulls a little on the binding. It’s not something that makes or breaks the DVD, but it will probably cause some issues a few years down the road requiring you to be careful with handling the case.

These entertainers give tribute to Quincy for how he has helped their career and Quincy obviously very appreciative as he is paid homage.
