The moral of the story, there are always going to be obstacles to overcome.
A native of Nashville, Tennesse, the rapper known as Ardamus has become well-known in our nation’s capital, having lived in DC for several years. As a both an MC and a producer, he’s become part of a growing collective of local artists, representing musical genres such as rap, rock, and soul/r&b. Ardamus seems to like keeping busy, all the while working long and hard to independently release his debut album, When Nothing Goes Right.
Ardams starts off When Nothing Goes Right with two tracks that might as well be sides of a coin. “When Nothing Goes Right” focuses on the hard work needed to make it as an underground MC, while “Say It To The Heart” calls for rappers who portray the thug image to be honest with themselves if they haven’t done any of the dirt they claim to do on their records. “Drinksmoke”, featuring singer Edith Sodolo starts off another portion of the album dealing with vices such as drugs and alcohol, and its effects on not only physical health, but also one’s mental states. “What’s Wrong With Me?” serves as a moment of introspection, as Ardamus looks to see of therapy can help him deal with deeper issues. “The District”, featuring Keyote and DJ Eurock, seeks to answer some of his questions, as he examines his experiences of living in Washington. Even with his indictments of the city, Ardamus believes he’ll long for it if he ever finds himself someplace new. Ardamus deals with sex and relationships, first on “She’s A Liar”, as well as “Maybe It’s You”. The former deals with the dangers promiscuous females, while the latter deals with couples in transition.
As an MC, Ardamus’ thought process is very much geared towards storytelling, not necessarily trying to perplex listeners with complex metaphors and tongue-twisting wordplay on every track. As a producer, the aim is towards subtle grooves, but Ardamus (assisted on a few tracks by Metaphysical, as well as Mind-U-Mental) still manages a few energetic tracks to have listeners heads nodding. Throughout When Nothing Goes Right, Ardamus builds on themes of how life can get in the way of your goals and ambitions, and what you can do to stay on your path.

I’m happy and proud of you man, you deserve everything you have. To all the readers, support my man Ardamus and I wanna thank you bruh for helping to influence me into pure hip hop too. Ardamus and I used to have ciphers together at Johnny O, and look at us now. I’m glad to see that you never gave up on the dream, and I hope God blesses you as you transition the dream into reality.
Peace
