TV: Brave & the Bold:: 2 comments: by David Rasmussen
What?!? It’s the second episode and already Plastic Man is here? Wow. I don’t remember Plastic Man being so… bad and yet so… so… something. Oh, Gorrila Grodd is the bad guy and he’s out to turn people into apes… while working off of Dinosaur Island and riding dinos!
This week’s brand new episode of Brave and the Bold pits the Dark Knight with a not always noble or very heroic Plastic Man. Once a former criminal who was hired by Kite Man… Kite Man, what kind of name is Kite Man… he was saved by Batman when he felt into a vat of chemicals and became all plasticy. Eventually of course he became a hero… who occasionally has lapses of judgment by not always returning the stolen riches he takes back from bad guys. So as this story opens Batman is already brooding about ejecting Plastic Man out of the Batjet after the latest bit of trouble he got Plastic Man out of (with the courts, the authorities, and Justice League, etc), so it’s abvout as good a time to run into a fleet of flying pterodactyls riden by sentient apes led by Gorrila Grodd. He’s kidnapping cruise ships, using the humans to experiment his newest method to make the planet the Planet of the Apes (while pocketing all the riches from the ships since he’s tackling luxury cruise liners).
So who better to take to a Dinosaur Island to fight Gorrila Grodd but—OK, there’s him… and him… her… and I didn’t think he’d be great but there’s him… and… OK, so maybe Plastic Man isn’t the first choice for the job it does give you an excuse to see his origin, as well as watch him take responsibility for saving Batman (no matter how “dirty” the job is before him infiltrating Grodd’s fortress). Oh, and before this is over you get to see Bat-Gorilla! Ooohh… now let’s see if he can both save Batman and all human life within so many miles of Grodd’s new machine.
Joy, I am getting attached to this new series (despite the fact I am pretty certain they went and got ANOTHER voice actor to be Batman… what, Kevin Conroy wasn’t available?!?). Second week passes and things are still all good. Looking forward to seeing what Week 3 brings (and the next new episode). 5 out of 5.
Oh, the theme of this week’s episodes with the exception of The Secret Saturdays is “People You’d Least Thought Would Come and Save You” (and I’m not just saying that because this week’s Clone Wars is the JarJar episode—OK, I meant that. Totally meant that.

The voice actor for Batman is Diedreich Bader, also known as Oswald from The Drew Carey Show.
