Batman : Brave and the Bold Episodes 5 & 6

OK, so from this week forward we’re tracking episodes by dates aired instead of episodes (then I won’t need to keep juggling episode numbers in my head).

Two episodes of wreckless youthful energy as Batman & Green Arrow spray the age of Arthur with with a fine coat of man rivalry, then the overtly youthful Outsiders inspire old JSA member the original Wildcat to sprout so many old man references the only thing he didn’t cry during the episode was “GET OFF MY LAWN”!!

Ah, once again we’re back to new episodes… let’s hope we don’t end up in rerun headache for awhile… that’d be nice.

Last week Batman ended up teaming up with Green Arrow (who for some reason NEVER refers to himself as Oliver Queen or whoever Speedy was (and who remembers Speedy’s social problem of choice back in the old days?)... well, that’s OK as Green Arrow (in his Arrow Car) and Batman in his Batmobile are riding about Star City busting crime, until they both end up transported to the Age of Arthur and Camelot in order to save the now paperweight edition King Arthur from his stoney curse. Yeah, good excuse to have sometimes Justice League villaness Morgana Le Fey (or however you spell that) drop in without having to worry about whatever happened to her in Justice League. Also a good (or bad) reason to have Batman and Green Arrow get on each other’s case about who can save the day due to some ancient prophecy that Merlin misinterprets (of course), as well as a good chance to have Jason Blood show up as the brain washed minion of Le Fey as the Demon (Etrigan)... gee, is there ever NOT a time he’s somebody’s pawn at one time or another? Come on, man!!

This week after teaming up with completely unknown lame hero whathisname (the one who can merge two animals into ONE, ONE, ONE form… oh so what, you’ve been doing that forever in games like Poke’mon and Dragon Quest Monsters : Joker! Like he’s so special that he can do a gross thing that may inspire Gullermo Del Toro to make a gross super hero movie… please don’t. Anyway after that teamup again Aquaman villain Black Manta he goes to unwind by doing a little boxing with old JSA member the original Wildcat, before the aging (post James “weaving out” Doohan stroke/heartattack) Wildcat insists on helping Batman bust the rather out of control (and wrongly aged) Outsiders from their string of mall assaults… oh, right, the first appearance of the Outsiders in animation in awhile and their perpetrating attacks on shopping malls because of the evil of mall “culture” and how it makes “outsiders”... oh brother!

And what’s with the age of the Outsiders again!

Black Lightning now looks like the makers of this show is trying to make him the next Static… and yeah they had to have Wildcat drop the word “Static Shock” in a sentence… right.
Metamorpho might be alright except he looks (and sounds) too young (in comparison to his last appearance in Justice League).

And finally, and oh no I can’t believe I’m about to say it… no, no, no, no, no… the underaged schoolgirl look doesn’t fit Katana… NOOOOOOoooooo…. I said it, dammit I said it!
And wasn’t there OTHER members in this team? Where is, like, half the team? Two members? They’re short a few is all I know!

Anyway the whole attacking defenseless malls (future gathering places of the undead post the zombie apocalypse) thing turns out to be a plot of a large fat bloated “villain” thing who seems to have control over large mutant turtles… WHAT, IS HE THE HUMAN BOWSER?!? MAYBE BATMAN SHOULD HAVE TEAMED UP WITH AN ITALIAN PLUMBER IN RED THEN!!!

Oh, and then there’s way too many Wildcat’s so old he keeps talking to Batman like he’s a rookie. Or the Outsiders are so dysfunctional they hate the world… or the ending speech from Wildcat… yeah, right.

OK. Now the episode breakdown.

The Arthur episode gets a 5 out of 5 for being abit off the norm (Batman actually getting into a whose the better hero pissing match with Green Arrow while they’re teamed up).

The Outsiders episode gets a 4 out of 5 (though for the record the score you see listed on this is a split between the two scores).

Anyway the Outsiders can’t get a lower score since I’ve given JarJar episodes a 4, and you’d have to be pretty bad to get a lower score than a JarJar episode!!

So 4.5 for splitting the difference between the two episodes of course.
