Batman gets himself a microscopic virus and disobeys his Doctor Atom by not taking bedrest in favor of chasing the giant lime green jello monster out to steal a nuke from a naval fleet guarding a small apparently wealthy nation as somebody is out to blackmail it with nuclear annihilation triggered by… digestive fluids… really? Nukes work that way now? Oh, and while Batman is becoming all pointy and sick it looks like only the egomongering Aquaman and the suddenly meek and squemish Athom can save Batman… what the!
So since when did the Atom become such a whiner?!? It wasn’t bad enough that Aquaman became a self absorbed egotist with delusions of self, now the Atom is all squemish as he leads Aquaman into the bowels of the infected Batman to seek a way to cure him (all the while he fights a giant mega lime green jello monster controlled by a little robotic lime green jello brain thing called “The Brain”... gee, no, really, when did I miss the lame-o era of DC Villains again? Really. Oh, the infecting of Batman was all to get him out of the way while the freakishly French accented brain in a metal bot plotted to blackmail a small (yet supposedly wealthy) island country with threat of thermonucelar annihilation through—digestive fluids? Apparently the large lime jello monster took a nuke from the naval fleet guarding the island and then swallowed it, using it as it’s ace in the hole to blackmail the country… because apparently digestive acid can now detonate nukes… really.
Anyway the Atom becomes tougher for his trip inside the bowels of the Batman (the fight ending in Batman’s brain where the source of the infection was, of course).
Aquaman bonds with a wee seahorse shaped cell in Batman and calls it “Platelete” (or however you spell that).
SHH!! Don’t tell Batman he has a little seahorse shaped cell in him!!
And everything turns out OK.
Until next week when Despero threatens to wipe out the whole Green Lantern Corps and only the newest Green Lantern (Batman) can stop Despero.
Oh, and Doctor Fate finally pulls an appearance in this episode.
Great episode overall despite the odd couple pairing of Aquaman and Atom. 5 out of 5.
